Meet 20 years old Rech, a Fantastic BND youth leader!
As young child he was separated from his mother and brought to manila by his father. Growing up he spent most of his time on the streets where he would wash jeepney’s, scavenge through garbage to make money during the day, and sleep on the jeeps at night. Krista and Erin met Rech on the street in 2011 and invited him to an evangelistic street kids camp. At Camp Jabez, Rech learned how to read the Bible and gave his life to Christ claiming him as his personal savior! Since then Rech has been on fire for the Lord and became a BND scholar as he was very eager to attend school. Rech has also lived at BND boys shelter where he has been active in leading outreaches, helping with the younger boys, and attending school.
(Keep Fighting)
One prayer request that was always consistent from Rech was that he would find his mother and family. In 2013 when rech visited his father, who moved to a different island to work, he gained the courage to ask him about his mother. His father gave Rech the names of his mother and other relatives, and Rech was able to visit his mother and she was thrilled to have her son back who she thought she would never see again. In one of his first night at his home Rech had the chance to share his story about the hope he has found in Christ to his mother who is not a believer. It was very encouraging and incredible to see how passionately Rech shared about Christ’s love! Rech is missed at Brand New Day but it is clear that the Lord has placed him back with his family to be a light for him! Praise the Lord for His goodness and abounding love that fills us all with hope and joy as we trust in His plan! Hopefully,
(Keep pursuing)
A goal of (BND) is to reunite former street children with their families, if the transition can be healthy for family and the child. The BND social workers visited his mother’s family too, and it became apparent that Rech could move to Cebu to live with his mother and sister for the rest of high school. So, last May 9th Krista, April, and I made the trip to officially reunite Rech with his family! He was excited for the opportunity to live with his family although there are lot of adjustment to make in learning a new language, selling fish in the market, and attending a new school. However, Rech confidence and strength found in the Lord gives him consistent joy and eagerness to move forward!
It would give you lessons and inspiration to all of you Steemians.
