Agree with you about the "tone" of confidence in the presentation. In the Corporate world, I found that managers didn't pay much attention to my technical explanation, but only as to whether I spoke with confidence about it. If someone spoke dogmatically and with confidence they would buy almost any BS if they did not possess personal expertise. I worked for months to get rid of a man who was totally incompetent, but he spoke with such authority and confidence other managers believed he was great, when he was saying things that were totally disconnected.
