Monochrome Monday

in #monochromemonday6 years ago (edited)

When everything in the world seems to stand still, let it. Let it be. If only for a moment in time

Being still does not mean don't move. It means move in peace― E'yen A. Gardner

Today is #MonochromeMonday by old-man-photos @old-guy-photos! Pull out some of those mono shots!

This is one of my favorite shots I took of the total eclipse last August. I traveled from Washington, DC to the North Carolina/Tennessee border just so I could be at ground zero.

As the Moon covers the Sun during a solar eclipse, the rugged topography of the lunar limb allows beads of sunlight to shine through in some places while not in others. ... The diamond ring effect is seen when only one bead is left, appearing as a shining "diamond" set in a bright ring around the lunar silhouette. See here

Sometimes you just need to do it.

Caressing touch upon my heart
Colliding whispers in the dark
Fairytales in the night
Embracing me
All over again
Again tonight

And so, another #MonochromeMonday coming to a close and I slip this in, hoping the lateness is barely noticeable.

Don't ever forget what wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Sort:

Hey we are all running late today. So be it. There is no time limits!

The sun is just well, stellar! Your words even more so!

Love all the shots. You always have a knack for knocking it out of the park!!! Well done Denise!!!

Awww! You always leave the nicest comments. Thank you so much!

You know that the total eclipse was just a fluke, me going and even being able to photograph it and have it come out. I bought a special filter. (Oh, even my camera is a diva!)

Wonder where the camera learned that from??? LOL It was outstanding!

One has got to wonder....

The diamond ring of the moon photo is epic. Such a hard photo to get and you came up trumps. Well done Denise.
Isn't it weird how all the birds stop singing during an eclipse?

It is like out of a sci-fi movie! It turns dark and the temperatures drop about 10-20 degrees instantly and yes! The birds stop singing and there is no movement, except for the gasp of awe from somewhere in the darkness.

It was a very eerie, but thrilling experience. I was at ground zero and I am guessing that is probably why I got a pretty good shot of it. Thank you. The next can be seen July 2, 2019 in Argentina or Chile. See you there?

Chile! Sounds like a plan :) I saw an eclipse back in the 90's and filmed it. it was very spooky as all the birds fell silent. an amazing experience and one I'd do again.
I'm just practicing with the camera for the next big event in August when we should get a spectacular Perseid meteor shower. Max visibility 12th 13th August although you can actually see some now.

I got a few good photos last night but no meteors. Dooh!

Yes! I have been keeping my eye on it!

Are you going to be in Japan?

The eclipse one is spectacular!

Thank you! Next solar eclipse is in either Argentina or Chili on July 2, 2019. The only way to get a good shot is to go to ground zero, not always possible.

What a extraordinary capture of the solar eclipse unfortunately i have never managed to see one myself i might have to join you in Chili or Argentina for that next one i have cousins in Argentina it might be the perfect reason to get over there and those cats eyes adorable...WOW...love it :)

Do it!! Have you ever been there? You might be a convert if you do! :)

Kidding. You have it made in the shade in Thailand. I promise you, I will get there. It looks too amazing to pass up.

July 2, 2019 Don't be late! Best sightings:

La Serena, Chile
San Juan, San Juan, Argentina
Bragado, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Junín, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Haha...kid you not it has been on my bucket list for awhile i love to see that part of the world i might surprise you..i do have cousins there then i would go to Roma and caught up with a few more cousins :)

Sounds awesome! Rome is one of the most fabulous cities in the world. Well, all of Italy really.

Like Nike says: Just do it!

That could work out fine for me it's just under a year away and my contact here finishes here around that time so it will be a perfect opportunity for me to get away for awhile :)

Oh, you are living the life!

Haha....your not doing to bad yourself...lol :)

The total eclipse just blew me off!!! What a splendid capture!!! Mutiple thumbs up! 🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒👍👍👍👍

Thank you, my lovely friend! I was so excited that I was able to get there to the ground zero!

Yes, with the accomplishment that you had, it should really excite you beyond words!!! 😍😂 And it pays off. Looking forward for your next shot, eclipse chaser! 😂😂😂

A gorgeous and inspirations monochrome Monday, Denise:) Fantastic:)

Thanks so much, Pryde. I have finally gotten to where I feel like I am cheating with one picture.

The photo of solar eclipse is best ever photo of you and also cats attitude too. Sometimes its a luck to present at a right time at the right place, good luck to you.

Thank you! I was at ground zero with the best view of it. I appreciate your comment.

Excellent collection for monochrome Monday... the flower, the moon and mostly the cat eyes..

Thank you!

The first picture looks like a piece of art. Which it is, of course, created by Mother Nature. It would be perfect for framing and hanging on a wall!

Thank you, Oleg! Monochrome is always a struggle for me. I love looking at it, but, my lens sees living color! ;)

“You ask why life is unfair? Well, let me ask you this: why the sky is grey? Why the grass is grey? Why is rainbow grey-grey-grey-grey-grey-grey?..”
– A life advice my dog once gave me

Woof

That's all I got! ;)

The first picture is ... the first of my favorites. Although I'm the man of the moon, the first photo seems to be overtaking her. Thanks for the last photo that reminds us that we are still a colorful world!

I'm surprised and yet, I should not be. You are truly a flower guy, but, if I had to choose, I would have said the moon shot.

Mono is never my first choice. I admire it, but, I see the world in living color! ;)

Thank God, and I prefer color though b&w can often be very artistic. You're right, the eclipse is a very special picture!

Beautiful words and photographs @dswigle.

You saw a total eclipse? How wonderful. Dead jealous I am! 😂

I did, Gillian! It was the coolest thing I have ever seen! Last summer!

I can imagine @dswigle. I have seen a few partial eclipses and each time we do we are inspired to look to see when and where the next full one will be, but we haven't managed to organising experiencing one yet. We are very limited in what we can do by John's lack of holidays from work. 😢

Love your mono shots especially the ecclipse I have never got a shot of one, but let me add yet :)

Thanks so much, Jj! The next total solar eclipse will be in 2019. See here

I expect to be there!! I will save you a spot!

@dswigle Cool but the link didn't work for me but I thought when I looked it up it wasn't going to be visible in the states are you heading abroad for it

I will be going to Chili or Argentina, but, it looks more like Chili.

La Serena, Chile
San Juan, San Juan, Argentina
Bragado, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Junín, Buenos Aires, Argentina

@dswigle Cool I dont think I will be able to join you, you know the no flying thing but have fun

I remember, but, I promise if I get there, I will send some beauties to you!

Hi dear Denise! The total eclipse photography is stunning! Also I cannot stop looking into those eyes, they keep looking back at me!
Nice post! 🌸🌺💗

Thank you so much, my sweet friend! It was well worth the drive and the traffic. We set up camp at ground zero and the whole entire earth cooled down from the 80s to a chilly 60 in those few minutes.

Awww, my female kitty is the one that passed at Christmas, but, I just love her eyes. 💗

Beautiful photo! You're lucky you got to see the total eclipse. I only saw 85%!

I was totally lucky!! It was a pain getting to ground zero, but, worth every second. Wasn't it the most awesome thing? Eerie, sort of.

Yeah, I remember it getting really dark all of a sudden, and the whole experience was kind of creepy. It dropped about 10-15 degrees, so that was nice!

This is a treat to check out purely brilliance great shots there wow :D

Thank you so much!

happy week dear

Thanks, Sam!
