It's #monochromemonday initiated by @old-guy-photos and today we are at the movies.

I'm sharing a couple of photographs of what life looked like to #oldtimers back in the days of black and white movies. This is how the cinema looked to them in monochrome :)

Of course I don't have a time machine so you will have to use your imagination.

It amazing what you can get with a smartphone. So easy to get a few snaps for the #smartphonephotography contests initiated by @juliank

The video below is my homage to Alfred Hitchcock. The master of suspense.

Thanks to human evolution and advances in technology.
We can now see the world in all it's varied colours but some of those old black and white were great. Don't you think.

Have a sweet week ahead folks.

Do you think the experience of shared entertainment would be different to those old-time movie goers? Would the find our modern cinematic shared social viewing radically changed from their own? For the worse or the better?

Market segmentation is so niche these days and the variety of content is so wide that ironically there are fewer truly 'shared' social experiences today than there was back then.
Everyone in the past would watch the same movie in a huge cinema and talk about it for the next week with friends and workmates.
Today's audience go to multiplexes with smaller audiences and so a common theme is not so prevalent.

This can lead to a disconnect in social interaction and engagement as not everyone is on the same page.

These are my observations and interpretation of the changing social landscape.

We are more disconnected these days from a shared experience and not just from the movies.

Is this good or bad is a very difficult question to answer. It depends on intentions.

I have to say I agree with your points. The shared experience seems more and more to promote those social cliques that do more to promote exclusivity than inclusivity in our societies.

That's about the size of it. Fragmentation.
