The Smederevo Fortress is one of the largest medieval lowland fortresses in Europe and the last major work of Serbian architecture from this period.
The history of this place is still alive - the tomb of a noblewoman with medieval jewelry was excavated in 2012. Because of this, as well as the fact that the works are still ongoing, this is a place that all lovers of archeology and history must visit.
And once you're here ... who knows ... you might even find the legendary treasure of the damn Jerina!
The Smederevo Fortress consists of the Big and Small towns. The small town is actually the remains of a former castle where the despot's family and nobility lived. The big city was erected a little later and was populated by the population during the Turkish conquests.
