Dew, flowering things, flying and/or chirping birds — these are just some things I saw and heard on my early stroll today. It's almost 9 months since we made this lil village our third home, and I'm still discovering and realizing new things about it.
For instance, children walk to (and from) school on their own, which I think is a wonderful way for them to learn to be independent early on. This is the opposite of the usual sight in the other town where parents send and fetch their kids, even in reasonable distances.
On weekends, kids play along the street, getting their hands and feet dirty. We have yet to see one glued to a gadget (although we haven't had the chance to be in everyone's homes). But yes, it's rare to see such a discipline these days.
Anyhow, the stroll led me to the edge of the property, where I get to watch the sun as it inched away from the mountaintop into the wide, blue sky. By the looks of it, we are going to have a really sunny Wednesday.
Before that, I was soaked in wonderment by the dew populating and hanging on to the blades of grass along the way. They are a fascinating sight! Unfortunately, my phone camera's macro feature has its limits, hence, these shots aren't as sharp or clear as I wished them to be.

Somewhere above my head was a flowering mustard. This plant seems to sprout everywhere. I used to encounter the same on my walks at the other town, both in the Lil Kingdom and on the other side of the mountain.
It's the same with this Canna Indica growing along the road walls. I imagine they will spread even more, which would be nice.

My walk wound up in the yard. The sight of my vines (beans) flowering made me smile, joyful of my so-called green thumb (my cousin's words, saying she couldn't grow anything successfully). I laughed, saying anyone can grow something!

More bean stems. This needs a pole or a stick to climb on. I do wonder why some of its leaves are yellowing. Perhaps the soil is too dry?
And the pumpkin has formed buds, too! Aha! I think we are beginning to have a lil garden out here!
Somewhere near the storage by the pile of gravel is a giant mustard with leaves so humongous it could cover my whole arm!

And nope, we didn't plant it there. Maybe a bird (or perhaps the wind) brought the seed which grew on its own with the aid of some sunshine and yes, occasional rains. It's always a nice surprise to see something growing around.
The walk has been invigorating. Not only are my legs thanking me for it, but my soul too!

The dewdrops on the grass look so nice in the photo, this is wallpaper worthy. Honestly, simple things like that can make a morning walk special

That is a huge leaf for sure. Are they edible? (I bet they doesn't)
But it can be used as an emergency umbrella when you are away from home and its rain. !LOLZ

I can relate to this. During our last trip to the province, my son was deeply moved to see students walking several kilometers home in the rain, using large taro leaves as umbrellas. He asked why their parents weren't fetching them from school, as he is accustomed to. I explained that life can be very different and that he should be thankful for not experiencing such hardship. It was a humbling encounter.
It must have been surprising for your son, but at least he learned something from what he saw.
I think it's not about hardship here, as each home has at least one car, so maybe it's just how parents train their kids, especially since the school is just nearby.
I think the macro feature of our phone needs an upgrade fora better macro shot. Whatever, you captured some amazing macro shots, and I liked all of those.

I remember when I was a kid, I used to go alone at school from age 9-10 or so, now it's impossible, schools won't even allow that...
The pictures with the water drops are expecially nice
It was the same for us back then. These days, there are school buses or services. Some kids even drive their own vehicles.
We have bus too, but like schools won't allow by law to let the kid out alone without an adult taking him...
Aah, that's understandable, especially with young kids between 4-8 years old. One of my nieces is 9 (going 10), and her father still accompanies her to school.
