Duży fragment wybrzeża Bałtyku w południowej Szwecji jest zagrożony katastrofą ekologiczną. Ma to związek z wyciekiem ropy ze statku towarowego, który tydzień temu osiadł na mieliźnie na pograniczy regionów Smalandia i Östergötland.
Statek niespodziewanie się przemieścił i uszkodził ustawione wokół niego bariery zabezpieczające. Funkcjonariuszom straży pożarnej i straży przybrzeżnej udało się wieczorem wypompować 7 tysięcy litrów ropy, jednak tłusta substancja zdążyła dotrzeć na ląd i liczne wysepki miejscowego archipelagu.
