Hassan 2nd mosque is one of the largest mosques in Morocco and the 13th largest in the world.

The construction of the mosque started on July, 1986 and completed on Augest, 1993.

In 1980 Hassan 2nd the king of Morocco then had made his ambitions so clear for creating this greatest monument on water looking out the Atlantic Sea, when he said:

''I want to build this mosque on the water, because God's throne is on the water. Therefore, the faithful who go there to pray, to praise the creator on firm soil, can contemplate God's sky and ocean''.

The total financing cost of the mosque construction was about $700 Million, almost 85% of the Morocain People had made a donation to build this monument.

The mosque complex was designed by the French architect Michel Pinceau, 6000 Morocain Traditional Artisans worked in the construction using Mosaics, granite, wood, marble and other materials.

The Minaret of the mosque is the world's tallest at 689 FT topped by laser light which directed towards Mecca.

This mosque supports about 105.000 worshippers 25.000 pray inside and the rest on the square outside the mosque.

According to the Muslims Traditions you must be decently and respecfully dressed (knee and upper arms have to be covered) to enter the mosque.
