Hiya! Here's a HUGE topic everyone who wants to pro-create needs to tackle when preparing to have and harvest a child: Sould I breast feed my child?
Well, since there IS scientific evidence proving that this can actually have large health benefits for your baby, lets make a pro's and con's list anyways.
CAUTION: I am not a mother, or soon to be mother. This, however, does make me the outside third party, so I neither have to be pro or against it.
Lets go through the cons first.
Negatives of not breast feeding: Welp, since you dont want to use the milk that your breasts are already procuding (for free), you're going to have to go buy formula. Just in case no one knew this already, but formula costs money, and so does the gas or shipping and handling you pay when ordering/buying baby formula.
Another negative is not knowing what is in this formula your baby is drinking. At least whenusing your own boobs, you know everything you ate and drank that day, and whether or not thats safe for the baby. ie: if you drank alcohol while breast feeding, that milk would NOT be good for the baby. There was in the early 2000s an issue with the formula milk that was made in china being toxic, and I'm not sure whats worse; being inconvinenced by having to feed your child whilst whipping a boob out in public or having a slightly, intellectually impaired child due to lead intake.
Since almost all of the negatives are out there, lets start on the Pro list, and please feel free to inject pro and con comments.
Pro: IT'S FREE. Yes, that is right. The milk product your baby needs is free, and you can make it yourself. Unless you had an unconventional pregnacy, ie; surrogacy, adoption, and/or your breasts dont produce milk.
You can lose all of that pestering fat you gained while growing a child by breast feeding. I know it sounds weird, but breast feeding does help maintain a healthy metabolism, which can help the mother lose weight.
The milk you produce has hella health benefits for your kid. That milk is specifically made for your child, meaning your body is producing the milk that is almost like prescription breast milk, or like custom foundation. made just for your skin, and now made just for your kin. LOL. Breast feeding has also proven to increase intelligence, lower their allergies, and can help your baby maintain a healthy weight so if they get sick they will not be susceptible to dying as a baby with a lower weight would. Yes, weight of your child can determine whether or not it's immune system is as capable as it should be.
Personal Story Time: So the other day my friend was telling me how she wasn't breast fed and turned out ok. LOL, heres the funny thing; my friend and her sister (who was also not breast fed) have SERIOUS allergy issues. and by serious i mean gluten allergies, soy allergies, and lactose allergies. Which all could have been prevented if she had been breast fed, considering these are all allergies you develop, not ones you are born with. Also, she said she wasnt a "fat" baby. But, heres the deal, you kinda want your child to be a chunky monkey for a while. Not only are their little rolls cute, but they are able to fight off infections, and have enough energy in the tank so that they can grow efficeintly.
Anyways, here were some pros and cons of breast feeding. If you have any other input, please comment!
VACCINATE YOUR CHILDREN!!!
I love this!! It is all so correct what you have said. I breastfeed my son and I must add that one thing you have missef out is the amazing bond you get with your child while breastfeeding! It's just irreplaceable!! Team Breastfeeding all the way!! 😊
Thanks! I'm not a mom yet, but when I do have my babies I am definitely breast feeding them!
For sure! Well, when that time comes, I am here to answer any questions for you :)
