“Now" or "not at all” is an option to realize the work towards the success we dream of. All options are in your hands, willing to postpone or work immediately, because they impact on life.
In fact, it is a choice for everyone, whether he wants to have a "postponing" or "work out" attitude. "Now" or "later" is the attitude each person can choose with their respective references.
Maybe we need to re-think when we want to postpone something. The thing that often happens is that if we postpone too often, finally can forget and can reprimand / penalty not necessary. Therefore, choose and get used, which should be "allowed" to dominate our mindset and actions. Choose "do it now," or "none at all"!
In a literature, mentioned about a technique to reduce the delay called Zeigarnik Effect. This is the result of a study by Russian psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik. In essence, do something immediately, choose the easiest to live, then suddenly you've done a lot of things, because you will continue to move forward doing the next job. Like an author if you are in front of a computer screen and typing just one word as the beginning of a post, it will usually flow to other words almost automatically.
Productive Working Technique
There are various ways to make your time more effective, efficient, productive. Everyone actually has their own ways. In this article, I extract what Tim Ferriss wrote in his book The 4-Hour Workweek. Perhaps we can choose according to the situation and conditions.
1- Selective Telephone Answering
Phone numbers that are not from the phone list, sometimes with little time. Not arrogant, but if it is necessary, at certain hours apply this rule. If it really matters, someone will surely leave a message to us.
2- Watch Time To Answer Email
Ferriss mentioned, many people take the time if he focuses on answering emails before starting work. Conversely, if opening an email before the night rest, usually will actually keep us awake. Ferriss recommends that you do the previously planned work, after at least one job is done, around 10 am, then you open the email and answer the most priority email. The same can be true for chat.
3- Do not often agree to do the meeting agenda uncertain
Many of the meetings held led to less effective things such as less-necessary conversations. Finally, it will reduce productivity. In fact, if all planned properly, effective meeting according to Ferriss only takes less than an hour.
4- Focus on the main conversation
Maybe it's necessary to start getting used. Ferriss says, while on a call or holding a business meeting, do not ask too much news. As much as possible, immediately disclose the purpose of your contact / meeting. If you really want to chat, there is a separate time that can be set schedule.
5- Perform 80/20 Scale for Work Affairs
Again, this is not a pride. Instead, an alternative way that we can maximize the time. Do an "80/20 scale" to sort out the people you need to meet for business. This method is a method to find out, which people / activities that if 20% done, can give 80% impact of finished work. Conversely, where 20% of activities or people who if obeyed, even spend 80% of our time. By knowing this list of priorities, we can choose and sort out things that will bring more benefits to our lives.
6- Work on a priority scale
Connecting the 80/20 concept earlier, have priority in completing various jobs. Because, if it does not have a priority scale, usually all work seems important to be done immediately. The end, even our own inconvenience and unfocused, until even confused.
7- Need to rest also to refresh the mind
Give yourself a chance to rest, so when you start back to work it can be more optimal. One way: do not get used to carry a mobile phone 24 hours a week full. If necessary, activate silent mode or switch off the phone for a moment so we can really rest and have time with the nearest peoples, because life is not all job matters.
