In general, Jackie Robinson was born in the year of 1919 on January 31st. He was born and raised in Cairo, Georgia, and he had 3 brothers and one sister. In addition, one of the first sports he played was track during highschool. His older brother had inspired him to run track.
Nevertheless, Jackie Robinson went on to win the NCCA Championship for long jump, and he attended the college called UCLA where he received varsity letters from four sports. There's no doubt, that he was good at playing baseball, but he was also skilled at track, football, and basketball.
Later, in Robinson's life he was drafted into the army. He met Joe Lewis a famous boxer, who helped Robinson to get into officer training. Additionally, he began his officer training in 1942, but by 1943 he was already ranked as a second lieutenant.
However, he had an honorable discharge from the army, because he refused to sit in the back of the military's bus. Furthermore, he went on to play professional football for the Kansas City Monarchs in Hawaii.
Eventually, he caught the eye of Branch Rickey, who was the president of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Around the year of 1945, Robinson signed with Rickey to play for the Montreal Royals. The Montreal Royals are a famous baseball team, who compete in an international league.
In addition, Jackie Robinson inspires me with skills on the baseball field, but also because of his skills of leadership and persistence. In other words, he was awarded the batting championship in 1949, and he was labeled as the league's MVP with a batting average of .342 overall.
In conclusion, Jackie Robinson is a great example of motivation. He execeled in baseball against all odds. He prooved that his talent was a force to be reckon with.
