“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” (Luke 5: 5)
When Jesus told Peter to let down his nets for a catch, Peter reminded Jesus of how he had toiled all night and taken nothing. Peter was simply saying that what needed to be done had already been done, yet without results. He was simply saying that efforts, expertise and experience had failed him, and even the lake of Gennesaret had also failed him.
Peter then added, “Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net”. Everything had failed, but Peter was willing to still stand on the word from the mouth of Jesus. At a time when everything failed, Peter’s response was to stand on God’s word. Things had gone out of course, but despite the failure and disappointment, Peter stood on the word.
Friend, no matter what fails, stand on the word. No matter how people disappoint you and policies work against you, stand on God’s word. No matter how doors are shut at you, and no matter how men refuse to help or favour you, keep confessing God’s word concerning you. No matter how difficult things ever become, stay focused on God’s word.
The economy of this world might fail, your business plans and efforts might fail, friends may fail you but Jesus’ promises and words concerning you will never fail; your calculations may even fail you but whatever Jesus has said to you remains intact, nothing missing and nothing broken. No matter what fails and how it fails, God’s word will never fail.
Make God’s word your anchor in 2018 and beyond, and no storm will sweep you away. Stay on God’s word, and the things that are impossible shall become possible in your life.
Declare With Me: No matter what fails me, I stand on thy word, in Jesus’ name!
