A remarkable thing in nature is the potential of the seed. Small as a seed is, it possesses within itself the ability to become a tree, multiply and even generate a forest. However, if that seed is to reach its ultimate growth potential of a forest, it will have to go through several developmental processes. If it is to grow and survive , then the seed might have to endure harsh weather, forest, fires, drought, insect infestation and other challenging conditions until late it finally mature and blooms into might oak.
Just like the seed, you have the inherent ability and the capacity to become whatever you envisage yourself to be. Knowing and embracing this truth is a big step attaining the excellence you so much desire.
In His grace wisdom, God created us with a vast wealth of potential and marked the path realising such potentials with certain natural secret keys. When you get to know these secrets and you choose to fellow their instructions, it is then that you are propelled towards a destination of excellence. It is tragic to hear many potentially excellent academicians and great people mourn their failures and then settle comfortably in their mediocrity , only because they did not choose to unearthed keys to excellence. God has said, " I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live". What you choose determines what you become. Choose therefore to excel and you will definitely get there. Make that choice today because the best time is now. If you wait for perfect conditions you will not get anything done. EXCELLENCE IS NOT A GIFT; it is a choice. Those who excel are those who have chosen to do so. Make that choice now and remember that what you choose today will make what you are tomorrow.
The principles and strategies in this content will be absolutely useless if you lack that will to succeed . The will and your zeal are the tools that create the way for your accomplishment. The story is told of a pregnant woman who jumped over a seven - foot wall to escape a rabid dog on her heels . Her choice to escape the wrath of the dog coupled with her will and zeal infused in her the strength to achieve that feat. Whereas the drive is inherent in the choice you make, the strength to achieve is embedded in the will to excel. And remember, no one excel by accident. I'm yet to see a genius who just folded his arm in between his legs gazed through the skies all day and all night and yet achieve great feats. I'm yet to see someone who burned the midnight oil, touched on the right keys excellence, pressed the right buttons, did his job well and yet did not excel.
The point that excellence comes with sweat. No one gets it on a silver platter. Every single one of the "sharks" I ever encountered work very hard! They never give up. They do all in their capacity to attain all those beautiful grades we see.
You need to pay a price for that prize and this is a secret worth taking note of. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra. Why not decide to go that extra mile too and join the cadre of celebrated academic bulldozers. Charles de Gaulle noted, " nothing great will ever be achieved without great men and men are great only if they are determined to be so.
I believe some people will argue that we are all different with different IQ's ; it is never possible for a dunce to attain any excellence. In as much as I do not dispute the fact that men come in different sizes and that we all have different IQ's, each person's methodology or modus operandi to achieving excellence is very unique. You may not get the best of all grades but you can operate at your maximum and improve tremendously on your performance. School success primary comes from the ability and desire to manage work and time effectively and it is just like making yourself smart by practice .

I have seen high IQ students who just failed to do what they were supposed to do and hence either failed their exams or settled for a compromising average score.
On the other hand I have seen average IQ students who through determination and the discovery of what they should do to match up with the high IQ students, did so and performed tremendously well, As a matter of fact the person with the highest IQ is a girl with an IQ of 188 yet she is not the most brilliant person. On the other hand Richard Feynman, whom many consider as the last great American genius, has an IQ of a merely respectable 122. So it is all a matter of strategy and certain secrets which we shall discover in the chapter that fellow that will land you in the path of excellence.
We are not the same . Some are chiselled out of square pegs and the discovery of their appropriate square hole will make them fit in perfectly and perform wonders . Others are chiselled out as round pegs and hence any attempt to fit into the square hole of another will be futile and until they discover their own round holes they will always be confounded at the irony for their results in correlation to their " hard work " .
It is imperative that we discover ourselves, know ourselves, believe we can make it , make a choice to do it and then pursue it. Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Discover your own path way and commit your strength to that path way and you will be amazed at the turn of events.
Doctor Ben Carson, one of the best neurosurgeons in the world in his book Think big recounted how as a little he used to have F's like nobody's business, he was described as a poorest in his class and often ridiculed as the one who "carry the class ". But his mother , who could see the luster of the gem hidden inside that rough rock, kept assuring him of his ability to be a brilliant chap . He eventually believe he could make it and so made his choice and decide to pursue it. He was cut from watch television, take to read two books a week, locked himself up in his room most the time devote to real studies . He did his very best and sustained it .
It was not long when the day of reckoning came and that poor rejected dunce had been transferred `overnight '. He had been chiselled out and modelled to become the sharpest in this class. He released wonderful answers in class based on the investment he had made. Taking charge from that time on with consistency at executing is new found secrets and driven by the urge to stay on, he eventually became genius of his time .
