I give up!!

PEOPLE GIVE UP EVERY DAY!

They give up on a diet, on their dreams, they walk away from their families and some of them give up on their lives.

I've been on a soul journey the last few months and the messages I have been getting from different sources, but I believe inspired by God, have been enlightening!

Yesterday was a good example of this, I came home from work and my daughter started telling me about a video she had been watching in the morning. After her telling me bits about it I just had to watch it for myself! It was called 'Get back in the gate'. Here is the link

Watching this video put words to some feelings I have been having and thoughts I have been thinking.

No one just wakes up in the morning and decides to give up on something or someone...

It's a process of disengagement.

Disengagement means, 'the action or process of withdrawing from involvement in an activity, situation or group.'

The idealism and aspirations of youth quickly fade with the weight of responsibility we have as we get older. If we are not careful every bit of creativity will be drained out of us because of the sheer business of life and the responsibility that goes with that.

On top of that we encounter heartbreak, failure and setbacks along our life journey. Before we have even realised it, we aren't in the control seat if our life anymore, we have given it over to disengagement because the only way we feel we can cope with the weight of life is to withdraw.

It starts inwardly... outwardly we are still maintaining the appropriate actions...

Eventually we just give up to passivity and years go by without us being in control of our lives. Our lives start living us. We are just trying to stay afloat.

And even that for some people becomes too much and they give up on their lives completely, deeming themselves unnecessary for this world.

We all have a seat that leads to a gate that can open for us.

We can't do it alone, we need to surround ourselves with the right voices. We need to hear that we can fulfill our dreams and that we don't have to walk away or give up because of a fear of failure.

We have to believe we are unique and that we are necessary to this world.

We can't do it alone, we need to surround ourselves with the right voices. We need to hear that we can fulfill our dreams and that we don't have to walk away or give up because of a fear of failure.

I've taken control and I'm back in my seat, and every time I get overwhelmed and I'm tempted to disengage I remember to not look too far ahead and just take one step at a time.

Thankyou, glad it helped you!

Great post and I'm sure this will speak to a lot of people, myself included.

Thankyou, I'm glad it spoke to you!

I just followed you, kindly follow back.

I believe most people can relate to this situation. Life 'gets in the way' and as a form of self preservation, we disengage and forget about what is truly important. Great explanatory and motivational post. Thank you :)

Thankyou @therneau, this is a truth I have to remind myself of everyday, thanks for your support!

You are on point, surely what we need is to surround ourselves with right voices of encouragement that will stir up the can-do spirit in us.

Yes, who we surround ourselves with is soo important, thanks for your support!

@janique! that is the difference between a winner and a loser. Winners never give up.

Absolutely!

i understand what you mean. I myself have gone through similar situations, some very light, like in cases of games, and some very emotionally deep, like in life-related cases. At that I was so confused actually, and I felt like I was losing grip on everything. Like I didn't know what was right anymore and what I should be doing. But kinda like you, well, God helped me back. :3 I was reading a lot of christian inspirational stories, and they helped me get back up. It wasn't an instantaneous process, but it was definitely enough to "get back", so to speak. :3 Anyway, nice share, God bless you!

Thanks for sharing a bit if your story, ultimately it is God that leads us back, thanks for your support xx
