While I was trying to sleep last night, I caught myself replaying all those missed opportunities and mistakes I've done in the past.
I asked myself why I didn't do my best in all those job interviews with big companies? Where did I even get the guts to apply for those jobs when I knew that I was clearly lacking in skills and qualifications? I started thinking about those people who got those jobs and thought about how they are doing now. They must have been earning lots of money and traveling the world. It could have been me in a corporate suit with high heels on (I know I would look great in those clothes) and a proud look on my face.
I continued beating myself up over these past failures until I realized it's already 3am and I am trapped in a loop.
Regret really doesn't do anything good for anyone. It is a useless feeling
...and it keeps you awake at night (not good for an acne-prone skin!)
I don't remember what time I fell asleep but I woke up this morning without that heavy feeling from last night.
The first thing I told myself is that I have to be the BEST ME right now. I have to stop comparing myself to other people because they have had different experiences than me (and I will never have any idea what they've been through). I am one of those people who take more time to get through life and that doesn't mean that other people are better than me. I have to seize the present opportunities offered to me and invest more in myself because my future depends on me.
I haven't lived that long enough but I know this much (and have to keep reminding myself of these things):
You should not stress yourself about the 'should haves' and the 'could haves'. Those times have passed now. You can worry as much as you want but those moments will not come back and they won't change.
Instead, what you should worry about is where you are going and what you can do now because the more time you spend in the past, the more present passes us by.
The best place to succeed is where you are at with what you have. -Charles M. Schwab
You should always remember that you are the protagonist of your own life. So it's all about what you want and not what others think you should have. Don't feel like you are forced to do things in life because others are doing such things.
It is your life so do not let anyone tell you at what point in your life should you have accomplished something.
Everyone has their own problems, own lessons to be learned and their own path.
So, stop worrying about the tree you should have planted yesterday instead start planting your trees today
