We often tell our children, “Concentrate” but we never explain to them how to do that.
Well how can we concentrate? In order to concentrate you will have to:
- Stop the dialog that is continuously going on between you and yourself (your thoughts). You do not want to allow your thoughts to keep taking you here and there whenever they like.
- Your need to think one thing and only one thing at a time. You start by placing your awareness on the things or the area you are interested. How do you do that? You are already doing, but you are not aware of it, because you are doing it subconsciously. You have to learn to do it consciously in order to be able to this at will
Doing the following exercises will help to improve your concentration.
• Just being aware that your thoughts are responsible for your level of concentration is 50% of the solution
• Place your attentions and awareness on your hand and feel only your hand and nothing else
• Take a pen or any other object, and try to place your concentration/ attention only on this specific object and nothing else by placing your full awareness and attention there. This will help to stop the internal dialog (your thoughts). See how long you can last before thoughts take back the control.
