The best way to start or finish your day

in #motivation7 years ago

What do you think is the best way to start or finish your day? I’ll tell you… drumroll…it’s meditation!
(I was just as skeptical as you) :)
Do you want your day to be efficient and productive? Do you want to be successful and reduce the amount of stress in your life?
Or maybe you do not know how to relax and get maximum rest from your sleep?
Meditation is the training of attention and awareness, it's a great way to relax and it can help to improve your spiritual and physical !!! condition as well.
You do not need to take a difficult pose or be in a special place. You can try it right here and right now.
So how to start and what to expect.
First of all, meditation is a way to stop an internal dialogue (all the noise and thoughts that are constantly spinning in your head).
How to start? Be comfortable!

  • Sit or lie down
  • Close your eyes or concentrate on one object in front of you
  • Start to breath calmly
If you are anxious - try "4-7-8" technique:
Quietly inhale through the nose for 4 seconds.
Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
After that calmly exhale through the mouth for 8 seconds.

This technique can also help you to calm down in a nervous and anxious situation.
After you've calmed down, keep breathing normally.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Now let's try to concentrate on your body.
Think about how you feel. Do you experience discomfort or your body is relaxed?
Let's start from the top of your body. Try to feel every part of your body consistently. Feel the skin on your head, relax your face. Feel your ears, neck, chest, hands, fingers... Take time for every part of your body, try to assess how this part feels. If you start thinking about something else, go back to concentrating on the breath and your body.
You see? You are already meditating! :)
  • After you finished, open your eyes and stay a little longer in peace and quiet.

How did you feel when you opened your eyes?
There are a lot of different meditation techniques: you can concentrate on breathing, on your body, you can observe the object in front of you, or even visualize what you want to bring into your life!
If you don’t have time for research I suggest you to start by using an application for meditation.
These are my favorites:

  1. Headspace: Guided Meditation & Mindfulness
  2. Meditation & Relaxation: Guided Meditation

I am sure that meditation will help you to improve many parts of your life.
Feel free to write to me and ask questions.
I will be very happy if you share your experience with me.
I wish you good luck on this path.
