Finding the lighthouse

It never gets old... by vanessa violet, on Flickr

For the last few months I had lost sight of the lighthouse and was really close to crashing on the rocks.

Starting in about March I started to get the feelings of burnout, something that I have experienced in the past. The biggest difference this time was the feeling of being trapped. I really didn't have the option to slow down, at least much, because of financial commitments that I made. But I also knew that something had to change, and it was either going to be by choice or not.

It took me about another month or so of grinding to start to turn the ship around. I knew that without having the ability to make drastic changes to giving myself more rest, relaxation and most important exercise, it was going to take a while to get past this.

Now its June, and this week, literally this afternoon, I can finally start to feel the burden to start to lift. I am finally starting to see the lighthouse through the fog again.

Keep going

If you are reading this, and you are feeling the signs of burnout or maybe general malaise or sadness; keep going. But just don't keep going in the same direction. If you can't see through the fog, start making some minor changes today, and keep going towards the goal.

Maybe the change is simply going to bed 5min earlier, or maybe its deciding to have a glass of water rather than another beer.

Small 1% changes made every day will add up to great change over a shorter period of time than you may think.
