Why you need to be creative, for you!

Hey everyone! I took a hiatus from my website the last while and i am hoping to get back into writing regular articles.

I just wanted to post my most recent article from my website "thepathweshare.org" if you like it, Check out the site for more!

and also let me know what you think!

Creativity is a necessary part of keeping our souls alive, happy and nourished. Unfortunately it is something so many of us eventually give up on, or suppress throughout our lives.

Being creative doesn’t just mean make painting or learn an instrument.

It means with thinking outside the box at work. It means finding new ways to be romantic with your partner. It means creating new dreams and aspirations for yourself.

"Creativity is merely a plus name for regular activity. Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or better."
-John Updike

Embracing your creativity isn’t about impressing other people. It’s about feeding the deep desire in our souls to express ourselves with whatever outlet works for us.

A reason some people become depressed, myself included, is that they lack a proper outlet for self expression. There are plenty of forms of expression, and creative expression is one of the ones we tend to suppress the most.

We might do this because we have lost touch with our creative sides, But more commonly, it is because we become afraid of putting ourselves out there.

All it takes is one bad experience to make us afraid to expose ourselves to the world.

What if someone makes fun of my drawing?

What if the boss thinks my idea is stupid?

What if my new business idea is a flop?

The answer is…

It doesn’t matter.

"To have the sense of creative activity is the great happiness and the great proof of being alive."
-Matthew Arnold

Maybe your idea flops, or your drawing of a cat looks like a bloated hippopotamus with stick legs.

Creativity is a skill that needs to be practiced and refined. It is a vital part of our endless journey for improvement, and every time we feed into it, it grows stronger.

Maybe along the way you end up embarrassed or with a train-wreck of a situation. It just means the next time you try you will have that experience to make it turn out better the next time.

Keep practicing and expressing whats inside you, and eventually your romantic ideas will become worthy of novels. Soon your drawing of cats will look like actual cats. The sky is the limit on what you can achieve, but its not about the end game.

Like everything else in life, it is about learning to love the journey.

So go out there! Flex those creative muscles if they have become too weak. Get them strong again and you will see the benefits start showing themselves everywhere!

"The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves."
-Carl Jung
