What do you know about honesty? Well, it has several meanings and definitions but I would say honesty is the quality or fact of being honest, sincere and upright. It also means to be morally behaved. It is very difficult to find a totally honest person be it in relationships, offices, marketplace etc. People are not completely honest in a relationship, for example, you see two partners that say they are in love but still tell lies to each other one or the both partners are not fully committed to one another in the sense that one of them may be cheating on the other and if found out trust will cease to exist in that relationship. In fact, it could lead to a break up because he or she would feel cheated.
Honesty is very good and it could lead you to places you have never dreamed of. It could open opportunities for a person. Let me tell you a short story of a man who was very diligent, hardworking and honest. Despite the fact that he had nothing he came from a poor home this man worked for a certain rich man as his driver there was a day the rich man travelled so the driver was left in the house with the man's wife. This woman tried every possible means to lure this man into having sex with her, bribed him with lots of money but he said to her that his boss has been good to him and he can't pay him with such bad thing so he refused her.

Unknown to him it was a plot between his boss and his wife so when his boss returned, they called him and told him how they both plotted it to test his loyalty and that they were surprised that such people still exist. So, the rich man gave him a huge sum of money to go start up something and move on with his life and told him to continue with his good character. So, you see honesty isn't just about telling the truth it is also about being morally behaved someone that has self discipline. This man's moral behaviour brought him out of poverty. Honesty is the easiest thing to practice because it leads to a fulfilling life it enables a person to be real with themselves. Lying is a very bad thing whether you are lying to someone or to yourself. When you lie it forces you to believe what you are saying you confuse yourself and confuse others.
Deception can destroy so many good things. I have seen cases too that it destroyed marriages, it kills trust and it makes it impossible for a person to trust you again. The worst lie we practice is when we actually lie to ourselves. It messes with our conscience, you won't be settled each time you tell a lie that lie starts tormenting you most times when I look back on the lies I've told in the past I would want to believe that what I did was right but deep down I know am only lying to myself. It is so wrong of a thing to do when you tell the truth it boost your confidence and if people know you as a truthful person it is easy for them to vouch for you when accused of things you didn't do because they know you to be a very honest and plain person but when you are recognised as a liar the things that you did not do if accused they would say you did it.

There's no coincidence that perhaps the most respected American in history President Abraham Lincoln often referred by the moniker as honest Abe because he was honest in all his human transaction and dealings.
