There is no investment you make to acquire knowledge or to get educated that will ever be a waste. We live in a world where knowledge and information seem to rule even over talent and ability. When you know what someone else does not know, you will automatically become master over them in that field. One of the major challenges facing humanity is related to lack of knowledge. Trust me, if you get extensive knowledge, you will be surprised that the solution you have been wishing for is right in your sight. This is why I believe that investing in knowledge is like investing in one's future. Just to let you know; with the speed at which trends emerge, it is only knowledge that will give you an edge.
In whatever you do, you need to apply expertise in it. Trust me, there is a way you will do even the regular and common things with so much skill and mastery, and it will appear adorable. But this is only possible with knowledge. You can only do well in what you have the knowledge of. I once watched a draught competition where one of the competitors was just playing around with the other competitor. He would be setting the pieces for him to be crossing until it remained just 2 pieces, but with an already set pathway. With just one chance, he swept across his entire pieces and got the whole of his pieces. He was obviously more knowledgeable in the game, so he exercised mastery over the other person. Knowledge comes with not just power but with mastery.
I have come to understand that knowledge is the pathway to achieving success. But much more than that, it also leads to personal growth, can transform your life and by extension the lives of others. There are doors that knowledge can open to you that you never knew existed. In fact, knowledge comes with unimaginable opportunities. Take yourself as an example; there are things that you have achieved now that you never even knew were possible a couple of years back. But it became possible as a result of knowledge. I remember when I first saw a computer many years back, it looked like something from another planet. But at this present moment, I have achieved so many things in the world of Computer Science and ICT. This shows that knowledge confers one with unimaginable opportunities.
In addition to this, knowledge also gives one the required confidence and competence to undertake a task. I have noticed that when I do what I have extensive knowledge of, there will be a level of confidence and competence I will exhibit, than if I attempt to do what I lack the knowledge of. So in order to build up yourself and grow in confidence, you should try to go for more knowledge. Do not just do things because you think it should be done, but because you know you can do it well. Do not approach a task casually, but try to employ expertise in what you do.
One of the good things about investing in knowledge is that, unlike a lot of physical assets that can be stolen or that can devalue with time, your knowledge cannot be stolen. More so, it will keep growing as you keep using it. Knowledge also brings the empowerment that will make you to rise above the challenges and limitations that may present to you.
In this era of 21st century, the world is seen to be moving fast - like in the field of technology, science, medicine, industry, etc. In fact, a lot of advancements have been witnessed in those fields. Just to let you know, some of the particular jobs that were available yesterday may not be available tomorrow, but a whole new different job with entirely different requirements. This is why, in order to survive and thrive well in this era, knowledge should not be an option but a mandate. Learning can never be substituted for anything as long as you still exist. Everyday you live, you have to look for ways to acquire knowledge and improve on yourself. Remember that investing into the acquisition of knowledge is never a waste but it is investing into the future.
