The Power Of Your Vision To Inspire Others: Great Leadership Ability

in #motivation12 days ago

A friend of mine once said that "leadership is not about forcing people to go certain ways or to do certain things, but it is about influence, inspiration and motivation." One of the ways to inspire others is through your vision. One of the things that I have observed about great leadership, world changers, and innovators, is that they all have visions which can inspire others. Just to make it clear; vision is not just about dreams or ideas, but it goes beyond them into creating a clear and inspiring picture about the future, which can make people to take actions. This can be in your place of work, in the community you live, and even in your family. The power to inspire others with your vision is a very powerful tool that a good leader should wield.

Now someone may wonder why vision is important. Vision gives someone purpose and direction, and also helps people to see beyond their present situation into the great things that can happen in the future. If you, as a leader, has a great vision of where you are going to, it will also help others to stay on course, and help them to navigate through their own path effectively. Following a person of vision is a quick way to arrive at your own destination. This is because when you follow them and do what they do, you will also get the same kind of result that they do. Of course, you cannot stay under the rain and not get your clothes wet. In the same way, you cannot stay around a person of vision and not also catch your own vision for your life.

Throughout history, we have seen people of vision, who were able to communicate their vision in ways to get people excited and piqued to get united towards a common goal. Take the case of Martin Luther King jr, the renowned American civil right activist. He started with his vision statement; "I have a dream," and he was able to get people to unite and champion a course to end segregation. He was able to pull massive supporters because he was moved by his vision - something bigger than him. Even long after his has gone, his dream still stood. Adorably, America has seen a black president; which was the result of the vision by one man many years ago.

Similar thing happened in South African, when Nelson Mandela also had a vision to end apartheid. When he started, it looked like something that would be impossible, but vision never sees impossibilities. He was able to pull massive supporters for his course and they also gave their voices towards the fight against apartheid. At the end, his vision won. He later became the first black South African President. This shows that vision always sees possibilities even when everyone else may not see it yet, yet they will always find ways to inspire other to believe them.

In order to inspire people with your vision, there are things that you need to get handy. Firstly, you need to be clear about your own vision. People were able to follow Martin Luther King jr and Nelson Mandela because they were able to clearly define their own vision. That is; determine what you want to achieve, what others will benefit, what changes you will create, etc. A clear vision should be realistic, specific, and with meaning. It is worthy to note that you are the first believer of your own vision. If you become unclear about your vision, then how will you expect it to inspire others? In fact, they may even find it difficult to follow you. So you have to make your vision as clear and understandable as possible for it to be inspiring.

The next one is that you have to learn the power of communicating with passion and conviction. Even if you have the most brilliant vision, you still need to be able to communicate it well to others for them to welcome it and be inspired by it. People are not always moved by mere words but by the energy and passion behind the words. When you are sharing your vision, speak with passion, conviction, energy, confidence, and enthusiasm. People need to see your passion and feel your excitement for them to be inspired by your vision.

The final point is to learn to lead by example and do not make the vision about you but about others too. You need to champion the course first before others will follow. You should also know that you are not supposed to be concerned about personal success, but collective impact. People will feel more inspired if they see that your vision is not just about you but that it will benefit them as well and also the community. Your vision should be able to solve specific problems, empower others, improve the society, so that it can attract passionate followers.
