A few days back, one of my friends told me the story of what happened when she was looking for job. She studied a financial course and wanted to work in a financial institution, preferable one of the major commercial banks in the country. She applied to one which she thought she liked, but during the recruitment exercise, she discovered that the two people that they finally took had a particular professional certification which she did not have. She felt bad that she was not taken. Sadly, the same thing also repeated in another recruitment she went to. This was already spanning to about 1year after she completed her Youth Service after she left school.
The rejection she got from these banks almost made her discouraged but somehow, she encouraged herself. What she did was to improve her qualification and went for the certification. When she got it, she applied again, and luckily, she did not just get one offer but three offers from three different top-rated banks. Her delay was not denial, rather it prepared her for something bigger. Her dream to be a banker looked delayed at the initial, but it was not denied. This is why I believe that delay does not equate to denial. Patience remains one of the most valuable assets that anyone who wants to succeed should have. This is because you may not get your desired result at the first attempt, but you should not stop trying, and you should also have patience. Remember that seeds do not turn to fruits overnight after planting.

In the world we find ourselves in, a lot of people are so much in a hurry and they expect things to happen at the speed of light. For example, there is instant food, instant messaging, express delivery, etc, so people have now conditioned their mind to think that patience or waiting has become a burden for them. This is actually the reason why people tend to cut corners and look for shortcuts to get what they want because they feel they cannot go through the waiting period of the required processes. You have to understand that because something has not happened or because you have not seen the result of the actions that you have taken does not mean that it will not happen. Have some patience.
One of the things that patience teaches is to trust the process and to believe that as long as you are doing the right thing, the result will eventually become manifested. A lot of people are only focused on the destination and where they want to get to, but do not pay attention to the journey itself and the processes involved. There is no way you will harvest a fruit from the seed that you just planted today. If you want to get the harvest, then you have to go through the processes of waiting after you have planted. It is the waiting process that will ultimately lead to the harvest that you seek.
However, it is worthy to note that it is what you do while waiting that will determine if it is actually patience or simply waste of time.

When you plant a seed for example, you will not just go and relax because you are to have patience, you will observe the necessary farm practices like weeding, watering, manuring, etc. This is so that the waiting will not be wasting. Just like the example of my friend I cited earlier. While, she was waiting, she was updating herself and upgrading her CV by getting more certifications. By the time the opportunity came, she was able to fit in appropriately. When exercising patience, you have to also be working towards becoming better and of course following the right process.
One thing to also know is that there is always the due maturity time for everything that you want to achieve. Any deviation in it may affect the overall result of the action. If a woman delivers before the due time, it may put both the lives of the kid and her own at risk. In the same way in other aspects of life, anything you do outside the due process may present with unimaginable risks. This is why patience is a very fundamental requirement of success.
