I help people with resumes and this is hands down one of the best advice articles I've seen on the subject. Excellent job!
Thank you! I'm working with implementing Application Tracking System for my clients - usually big companies. The system has it's advantages and disadvantages, and the biggest problem is, that it can't see the big picture, like a human beeing, can't analyze, there is no "maybe", only 0 and 1. Yes or no. That's why you have to cheat, if you don't fit into "average" labels ;)
Amazing tips to get that job of our dreams! Thank you so much and keep the good work coming =)

Interesting. They say that people make a decision in the first few seconds of an interview whether or not someone will have the job. The rest of the time they are giving themselves reasons to validate their decision.
This is actually true. I will write separated post about the interview itself, here I mentioned only steps that happen without knowledge/contact with candidate. For big companiest - big % of actions can be automatic, it reduces time and cost of recruitment.
Average person doesn't know that ATS esxists, being more aware will help to apply to those who didn't pay attention :)
Hey I really think I will enjoy your content then! I'm going to give you a follow I'd appreciate one back! I just wrote a post about NLP and how it applies to business give it a quick read on my blog, I think you might get something out of it too.
I remember hunting for my first engineering position, it's very competitive in Australia and there really isn't a lot of options. Very good advice here, and yes, check your social media, this will be the first place a possible employer will look for information about who you are as a person
Hey jwmackay, glad you like it!
I have new one to add to the list that I just saw recently... "don't take selfies during the interview" - it really happened.
Are you still in Australia? :)
That sounds like a deal breaker for sure! Yes still in Australia :)
I'm not sure if you can help but from reading this, it's worth a go anyway.
I'm an illustrator who's been looking for a job as a storyboard artist in the animation industry. Due to complications and my current situation, I only have 3 years of (excellent!) art school under my belt. There is a job that I want that is basically a trainee position, where I'll be paid to learn the ropes. But I need a Bachelors of some kind, and that's just not in the cards for me anytime soon.
I think I have the skills to get this job, but I'm afraid they wont even look at it unless I say I have a bachelors. Some people I've asked have told me to just avoid answering that question as long as possible, other's have said to lie, and my urge is to be truthful.
I honestly have a terrible resume, mostly because I've only had college jobs, and right now my time is being spent on taking care of my grandfather. Should I apply with what I have? Lie? I just don't know.
Would appreciate some of your thoughts.
