Even if you know a lot about the cold war, chances are that you may not have heard of Viktor Ivanovich Belenko. He was a lieutenant in the Soviet air force and an ace jet fighter pilot. Forty-one years ago, on September, 6th 1976, Belenko made headlines worldwide when he defected with his MiG-25 "Foxbat" fighter jet to Japan and subsequently the United States. His defection brought him perpetual fame and lifetime wealth. However, his life would have been entirely different if not for two moments of extremely good luck:
Firstly, Belenko was a young boy in Nalchik, he was playing with his friends in the jungle when they came across a suspicious metallic object. Thinking it was gold or another precious metal, the boys decided to pick the object and examine it further. Belenko, being the youngest in the group, was sent to get food. While he was away, the metallic object, which was actually a leftover bomb from the Second World War exploded, killing all the other boys.
Secondly, Belenko, born and raised in a poor family, was underweight and stunted as a boy. One day, he found a book on nutrition in his school library. The book opened his eyes to the nutritional value of fruits. He thereafter made venturing into the jungle a hobby, eating as many fruits as possible everyday. He made this discovery just after his tenth birthday. In 1 year, he gained 9kg and his height increased by 10cm. Without this fortunate discovery, he would never have met the height requirement for the Soviet Air Force.

Sometimes, all we need for our lives to change is (a) moment(s) of good fortune backed up by action. Belenko escape death luckily when he was young and also act on what he read about eating fruits and growth which helped him to meet the height requirement of joining the Soviet air force.
STEEMIANS I want us all to stay focus and never lose hope, rewards are coming.
STEEMIT AND STEEM ON!
I would consider him a child of destiny...though backed up by action
