The opening verse talks about how the different members that make up the church were designed by God to be distinct from one another just as the human body is made of several different parts.It says their difference helps the body grow up as each part does its work.
In your relationship it is a good thing that both of you are not exactly the same. It's unfortunate that many people are trying to change their partners into becoming just like them. Narrow mindedness is what makes people do that.
The fact that you're both different in many areas is an advantage. The fact that you do not see things the same way is a plus. The fact that you respond differently is a blessing. Life would be boring if everything was the same colour. We need to really appreciate the wisdom of God in bringing us together though we're different in many ways.

Just as salt and pepper combine to make meals delicious and wonderful, let's start noticing how our lives can be beautiful and wonderful because of the advantage our difference offers.
What your relationship/marriage needs is that encouragement which comes from love. In the environment of love both of you will each be able to be their best in your different ways. This will in turn make your relationship grow and blossom on its own accord.
Do not complain about the fact that your partner is different. Rather be grateful that the difference is a plus. Love has given you this difference as an advantage. Use love to motivate your partner to be the best them that they can possibly be.
