The Sins Of The Father - Be Motivated

THE STORY OF GODFRED

I was down-spirited when i saw this young buy. He seemed to be malnourished. Behaved differently from all the kids around. He just couldn't fit in. But the lucky aspect of it all was that, he was a kid and fitting in or not, he was happy with the toys he had. I had just traveled home to visit my parents when i glanced upon this boy. Prior to my coming, i was told of the presence of a family member who fitted the description. I entered the house and pleasantries were exchanged between i and my father. We were all happy and i shared with him my latest encounters when i was in school.

A moment passed and i heard voices of children with the sound of a running feet in the compound. My father called the name "Godfred". Godfred quickly run into the room and greeted me. He responded in our local dialect, "Dada m'aba" meaning Daddy, i have come. He was introduced to me by my father as a younger brother. His father is a cousin to my father and we share the same blood. As we were introduced, so many thoughts run into my head but i threw them into bags as it wasn't necessary at the time.

I rested for the night. In the morning, i had enough time to spend with Godfred. We were sent on an errand to send a car to the garage. To be frank, his behavior doesn't befit his age. He behaved much more childish than his age. As we were waiting for our car to be fixed, he told me he could jump till he became tired. In-fact every one can do this. You will automatically stop jumping when you have exhausted all your energies. A boy of 11 years old isn't expected to have such childish thoughts. But i couldn't blame him much as he was coming from a more remote area with very less opportunities. His behavior prompted me to probe him and find out whether he was prepared for the future.

I started asking him about his education life. Hardly is he able to answer questions of his level. He is in school but learns nothing in school. I further asked him what he wanted to become in future and to my surprise, he couldn't name a profession. When i was at his age, i didn't know exactly what i wanted to become though but i had an idea of becoming a doctor. The same can be said of about my niece; Angel and Nana Esi. Now nothing surprised me any longer about him because i knew he wasn't built ready for this new era.

YOU HAVE A CHOICE IF YOU ARE READING THIS

You are lucky if you are reading this article. I am telling you so because indeed you are lucky. This kid called Godfred could have been you. Imagine being in a world where only manual labor was the order of the day and technology wasn't at your disposal. Its different if you have a choice to choose whether to be abreast with technology or not. Godfred has no choice or chance. His opportunities are limited due to his community and there is nothing he can do about it. This thought disturbed me a lot. Because Godfred is one out of millions of people with the same limited opportunities. He did nothing wrong to be born by His parents who are not so much well to do. He just came and that's what he met.

We will all pay for the sins of our fathers and that statement is literally true in here. His father just didn't make it possible for him. I cant beat myself over that. The only thing i can do is make sure my kids don't curse me for my sins. Work hard if for nobody, for your kids. They deserve to have a choice and a stand. Your miseries are going to be inherited by your kids and you owe it to them. Have a pleasant day.

We are blessed to have a shelter, food and our 'big' problems. There are people in the world who have not been that lucky as we are but many of them are much more happy than we are with all our money and luxury. When I drink clean water I think about people who don't have this essential source to survive. When I see people tossing away their food, my heart hurts. When I hear them complaining about how they don't have money to go on a vacation or get that luxury bag, new fancy car, I cry inside and have the urge to tell them how lucky they are. We should thank God for what we have and not want more and more and more.

The article is awesome love your writing @th4real

Es cierto, cuanto nos hace falta aprender para valorar cada instante lo que tenemos....

I wish more people could appreciate what they have. It brings some contrast to our situation to see parts of the world like this. Everyone who is able to read this blog has it waaay better than Godfred.
