Even though it was 2 years ago, I still remember my climbing up mountain during the Air Force training like it was yesterday. Certainly, I didn’t get there alone. I had a lot of help, alot of it.
While training, I called on my friends who are athletes to ask their training and recovery advice because I was scared not to breakdown.
Sometimes, when I got ambitious on a jump and was so sore the next day I had to crawl up and down the mountains and hills on my hands and knees, I called my mesomorph friend DELTA to ask him how to avoid having that happen again. (He gave me a two sided answer: He first told me not to do that again, and then patiently walked me through the wild world of sport recovery drinks.)
As I continued preparations, I continued to turn to my friends, the climbing, karate and judo training which was seasoned with motivational melodies, understanding the challenges of altitude and everything else that went into making my training a memorable and easy trip for me. Then, when I got there, it was my turn to pay it back. I was climbing with some older gentlemen who were having difficulty navigating the mountain roots. So, I’d patiently reach down and offer a hand—after all, we were there together, to accomplish this together. I wanted to both pay it forward and see them succeed.
Take a look at the image below and have a thought for a while;

People are connected by a system of roots. We grow up in families, that guides us. We learn early to make friends who support us in different ways. We are not meant to survive long without others. And like the image of the palm trees above, we do best when we hold onto one another and help each other to keep standing through life’s storms. We need others to hold us up, encourage us and advice us.
When I’m not doing well, it is because I am doing it alone. I don’t always let others to help me. I forget to ask for help; I keep my problems to myself. And though I may not see it, others around me might be doing the same thing.
When we stand out for one another, there is room for Collective wisdom, New Ideas, Borrowed Motivation and so much more. I conclude with a quote;
"Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That’s why it’s a comfort to go hand in hand.” ~Emily Kimbrough.
