In this contemporary world, many people have used various names to cover up for lies. More so, people tend to give excuses with lies but all that will not matter because nothing can stand against the truth. A lie can linger for a long time but at the end, it is always certain that truth will prevail.
You will agree with me that you will need many more lies to cover up for that seemingly small lie you told at the beginning and it may end up not being consistent and it will get exposed, but you do not need anything to cover up for the truth. With this, you will understand that it is less tasking, less demanding and easier to tell the truth than to lie. More so, when you lie against someone or something and you happen to come across the person or the thing, your heart will skip a beat.
A truth may not be convenient at the time it is told but in the long run, it will be worth it. There are some people that have incurred troubles to their lives because of a seemingly small lie they told and it later blew up. A story was told of a group of campus friends that went partying for the night and they forgot that the next morning was their test. When they had gotten home in the midnight, drunk, they slept off and woke up very late the next day.
They hurriedly rushed out of their lodge and headed straight to the exam hall. While they were on the way, they came up with a lie to tell the examiner. They planned to tell him that their car tyre burst while they were coming to the exam, and they had to change the tyre and it delayed them. They rubbed a bit of sand and dirt on their bodies so that it will look like the story is real.
When they entered the hall, the exam was over and the examiner was about to take the scripts away, so they told the examiner the lies. The examiner told them that he will be lenient on them and give them another paper to write but the paper will only have two questions. He explained to them that the first question will carry 1% mark while the second question will carry 99%. He also told them that the answer to their number 2 question should be the same or else they will fail the course.
The examiner gave them the paper and the first question was: "what is your name?" Then the second question was "which tyre of the car got burst?" At that point, they were stuck at the question because they knew they had lied and their answers will be different. That was how they lost the mark. You see, lies have obvious disadvantages which can easily be avoided with a simple truth. You do not need to have a perfect condition first before you say the truth, truth should be as a lifestyle to you.
If you cannot tell the truth in little matters, it will be almost impossible for you to tell the truth in much bigger matters. This is why you have to start from where you are to live a life of truthfulness. If people remark you for always telling the truth, they will have no difficulty in entrusting things into your hands because they will trust your words. However, if you are known for lies, not only that people will not entrust things into your hands, they will not believe you even when you decide to tell the truth.
Lies have the propensity to block someone's access to future favours. I ask you this: if you have had several encounters with someone and it ended up with lies, if you have something big to entrust into someone's hands, will you consider that person? You see, if you know what to lose by lying, you will not allow anyone or anything to make you to tilt towards lies.
