Back in August I published a music video (''Ghost'') by the Russian post-punk band Motorama without any words accompanying it.
I discovered the band around 7 years ago while trying to integrate (make friends with) the guys at the local skatepark (which was a huge failure. I'm not ''sure'' but know for a fact they made fun of me behind my back. Yet there were like 3 guys who didn't, they were just neutral parties, and for that I am thankful). Well, one of them who I even went to discover a couple abandoned buildings with one day, blasted some Motorama from his phone.
The weather, the place, the mood, the music itself, everything just connected right for me at that moment, as if stars were aligning in special ways high up in the sky. I fell in a gentle kind of love with Motorama.
And although they've performed in Estonia twice before, it was yesterday when I finally saw them live for the first time.
I hadn't really kept myself up much with what had been going on with the band throughout the years, only listened to and enjoyed their music. (Apparently at one point an important French record label (or smth) had noticed the band, leading to them becoming quite famous in the niche with over 583 thousand listeners on Spotify last year!)
So it was quite a surprise for me when the venue filled up as much as it did. We were like fish stacked tightly inside a tin can! And even though I had no room to clap, little exposure to any air and I saw sweat dribbling down a chubbier guy's neck in front of me, I never had a feeling of regret being there.
And since I'd never watched any videos of them LIVE before, I was also (positively) surprised seeing their on-stage set-up. There was no traditional big drumset in the middle of the stage, the drummer only had a snare drum and some cymbals. And the vocalist had a couple cymbals aswell! I fucking loved seeing him go kung-fu crazy on them during their performance! And he managed to sing clearly at the same time! Man, what skill he must possess!
Oh, Motorama, как я вас люблю! <3
Haven't had the chance to listen to Motorama so I guess I'm gonna give them a try. I like the way you put your experience together. I'm pretty sure you had a blast. Regards mate!
