A delegation of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited said this while talking to Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Industries. Industries Secretary Mohammad Abdullah, Honda Chief Operating Officer Noriyaki Abe, Akira Murayama, Asia and Oceania Regional Director Akira Murama, Bangladesh Hondar Managing Director Yichiro Ishi, Head of Finance Shah Mohammad Ashikur Rahman and senior officials of the company were also present.
In the meeting, discussions regarding the continued support of the motorcycle industry and the production of spare parts at the local level are discussed. The Ministry of Industry said in a press release.
Hondar officials said the motorcycle industry in Bangladesh is being developed rapidly due to the current government policy. In the last fiscal year, this sector-related supplementary duty has been reduced from 45 percent to 20 percent. As a result, 150 percent of motorcycle sales and government revenue revenues increased by about 650 crore rupees.
In order to continue the positive trend of growth in the motorcycle sector, officials said the government will maintain duty-free facilities in the next budget. At the same time, they demanded to reduce the registration fee of motorcycle to match the neighboring countries.
In the meeting, the Industries Minister said that the present government is giving more importance to modern technological industrialization. Instead of importing the government, the government has been able to provide the necessary policy to build a productive industrial sector. Other policy support, including the customs duty, will also be continued in the development of motorcycle-industry.
Honda motorcycle parts will be ready for joint investment or in factories under the Ministry of Industries. As a result, he hoped that a strong connectivity industry and employment opportunities will be created in the country, which would lead to further development of this industry.
