Last summer I met some amazing people during a hike of Mount Ararat in Turkey. We spent a couple of days together hiking and driving around the farthest part of Turkey near the border with Armenia and Iran. Actually we were going to visit Iran and hike it’s highest peak but due to pandemic the plans changed and we visited Kurdistan which is a part of Turkey.
Mount Ararat is the highest mount in Turkey at 5137 meters above sea level. It’s pretty different than the mountains here in my country and Himalayas but still worth it for sure.
Everything was perfectly managed by the local team during our stay and hike. I was little bit surprised to find some very common details in apparel and daily stuff with those in my country. But that’s normal since we share a border and have been parts of Ottoman Empire for centuries.
A tip for those who plan to hike Ararat: there’s a lot of dust from the starting point until the second camp so I recommend to take a small brush and a separate towel for your shoes.
