Yes, he can't be trusted fully! lol..usually he doesn't try to get our food but I think he did once when the wild part of him took over. lol. Generally he's very good and gentle but he can get very fierce if you act like you're going to take a bone or something of his away from him. He's a 2 year old now and hasn't been fixed so I don't mind that he's agressive sometimes, he would attack to protect his territory around the house if threatened by other animals, he's never been aggressive toward people though, he loves everyone.

Jim took Anna for Shitzhund training and she was kind of amazing to be around. He was definitely the leader of her pack.

howdy this afternoon Melinda! What is Shitzhund training? It must be good.

It is a method of training and testing developed specifically for German shepherds 100 years ago in Germany. Anna loved it... And it made her a pleasure to be around. If we were going in and out of a door she never bolted around us. She always sat and waited until the people had gone through the door first and then she waited to be invited to join. If he would go for a walk in town and stop at one of the stores he could tell her to sit and wait and she would wait outside the door of the store by herself until he came back out. People used to be amazed by her because she wouldn't even look at them if they talked to her. She was focused on the door and waiting for Jim to come back out. Unless we were somewhere that required a leash he never used one. She would not leave his side for any reason without permission. . She was an amazing dog.

wow that is amazing Melinda! And she was not like that before the training? she didn't jump up on people or did she have a problem with that? Jack likes to jump up on strangers!

She would never jump up on anyone. Of course people are always afraid of Shepherds and when we would encounter her going for a walk without a leash on they would always say oh my gosh will she bite me? And Jim would always hesitate and say I don't know, do you have liverwurst in your pocket? Because then she might! And that would make everybody laugh and realize that she really had absolutely no interest in them at all. She did hate the UPS man though! The mailman came everyday, and she had been told often enough to 'leave it' and so she wouldn't pay any attention to him, but that UPS man he just showed up out of nowhere at random times! I guess you simply couldn't trust a fellow like that! She had a Kong on a rope that could be thrown a long way and when she brought it back she was trained to place it neatly between your feet. She was a treasure.

Oh my gosh that sounds wonderful! But the training was a huge difference in her behavior or was she pretty good already?
Funny about the UPS man! I guess because it wasn't a routine thing everyday?
