Last weekend I drove to Kansas to go hiking because fuck Colorado.
Here are the kickass pictures I told you I'd take.
Ah! Kansas, glorious Kansas!
Your snow softly caresses the evergreens in every direction, whispering bittersweet somethings of the wheres and whens of flatland romance while secretly stealing glances back up whence —
Why are there mountains in the background?
What are you talking about? Kansas doesn't have any mountains.
But you obviously took this picture in the mountains.
Shut up. And stop interrupting me.
Here’s another great photo of Kansas. A lone tree, a tree as all alone and lonely as lone trees can be, with nothing save rolling fields as far as the eye can see:
Those are clearly mountains in Colorado's Mosquito Range. That’s Dyer poking up over on the right, and isn’t that Evans hiding there in the clouds?
Shut up!
You have got to visit KANSAS sometime because the scenery here is absolutely breathtaking. It will take your breath away, like that song in fucking Top Gun.
There aren’t many places on Earth where you can still encounter such unadulterated solitude and totally fucking complete oneness with nature:
This is a picture of the ghost town Ibex City. You’re in the old Leadville mining district, dude, and you’re not fooling anyone.
Shut the FUCK up. Kansas is awesome!
Here you can see where tractors passed by, probably pulling trailers loaded with bales of hay on their way to feed the horses, or whatever animals people in Kansas tend to feed hay to nowadays:
Those are snowmobile tracks. Dyer again in the back, Ball Mountain in front. You are in Lake County, Colorado.
And you are a DICK! I'm in KANSAS!
So glad I went hiking in KANSAS!
Okay, first of all, wow, that’s actually a pretty cool shot. But I’d say we’re looking at a solid 30 miles of the Sawatch Range here as opposed to, well, any part of Kansas. You took this from the top of Ball, didn’t you?
KANSAS!
Fine, whatever. These are all very beautiful pictures of Kansas, thanks for sharing, please upvote and follow. btw why are all these photos so goddamn blue? Did you use some kind of shitty iPhone filter or something?
No. Shut up. Flagged.

Loved your writing and pictures @brandt!
Thanks @rkphoto! If you haven't been to Kansas you should really consider visiting.
'Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.'
Yesssss!! I was just waiting for someone to pull out that Wizard of Oz quote. You done good, you done real real good 😀
I couldn’t believe no one made the comment before I did! I mean, it should have been the first thought on everyone’s mind.
I was originally going to work it into the post somewhere, but in the end I thought I'd just wait and see if anyone brought it up in the comments.
The other thing I thought was, "I wonder if I'm going to piss off anyone from Kansas?"
Nice post, beautiful photos! Love your writing haha :D
Thanks man!
Wonderful place! Excellent shots!
Good shots! Nice Kansas!
It's a beautiful view. This photo gives people peace of mind. Thanks for sharing.
Kickass indeed, keep up the good work
Where in KANSAS(!!) is it? (:
I can't remember, sorry. 😕 I wasn't really myself that day. Something just felt off. I sure had fun, though!
I'm asking cause we're constantly looking for unique road trip routes in the US, that's why i'm so curious (: Kansas was never ever in our minds..
Well, in that case … this is Leadville, Colorado. Take Fifth Street east of town. It will become County Road 1, which turns to dirt as it climbs up into the historic mining district. Just stay on the main dirt road all the way up to Ibex City (a ghost town). Here, the road gets a bit rougher and hooks up to the right through Ibex Mining Company property toward Breece Hill. Once you get up to treeline, you'll see a place where you can hang a left and drive to the base of Ball Mountain, park your vehicle, and hike up to the top.
If you do this in winter, most of the route is not driveable by car/truck/etc. You will either need to hike it all or commandeer a snowmobile. 🙂
Dude these are great photos but this is not Kansas!!!
Thanks man! Yeah, I think I got lost somewhere. Most likely, lost in conversation with myself 😄
I see so many unbelieveable photos from other countries. Nice to show off our own exclusive scenery right here in the good ole U.S. of A. Thanks, absolutely need to go to Kansas
Thanks for the comment. I highly recommend Kansas.
hahahah I think you're onto something with how you are writing here @brandt. Nicely done!!!
Thank you @rmae. 🙂
I don't usually go so heavy on the profanity like that, but I think it was okay in the context. My writing style seems to change from day to day depending on my mood. It's all a grand experiment, anyway.
Context was excellent. It was a perfect dose of humor, sarcasm and outstanding copy skills. Your specific style is present in almost every post, even in the short ones. Try to write longer posts. As your copywriter colleague from Europe I know it is easier said than done, but you can always try to use Steemit as a stress relief platform - results can be hilarious.
Thanks very much @hidden84 — both for the compliments and the suggestion to write longer posts. Clearly, what I did here worked, so perhaps I should take your advice. 🙂
