3. Downsizing
Having directed three successive best pic nominees, Alexander Payne will go for four with this sci-fi comedy starring Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig.
4. The Greatest Showman
La La Land tunesmiths Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have written the songs for this original musical drama about P.T. Barnum, starring Hugh Jackman.
5. Dunkirk
Christopher Nolan re-creates World War II's evacuation from Dunkirk on what promises to be an epic scale.
6.Mudbound
Dee Rees' drama about two clans living in the Mississippi Delta in the '40s, another Sundance standout, spotlights Mary J. Blige and Carey Mulligan in roles that Netflix could back with a big campaign.
7.Untitled Detroit Project
Reteaming with her Zero Dark Thirty screenwriter Mark Boal, Kathryn Bigelow tells a crime tale set against the 1967 Detroit riots. The film stars John Boyega and marks producer Megan Ellison's first foray into distribution.
8. Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Project
The director is reuniting with There Will Be Blood star Daniel Day-Lewis for a drama about a fashion designer who dictates taste in '50s London.
