I've only just spotted this post @abitcoinskeptic it's a bit late but I can upvote your reply.
Nice coverage of the movie. I haven't seen it yet but, to answer one of you questions, my daughter has. She is 15 and thoroughly enjoyed the 90s references. She loves Cobra Kai and Stranger Things. What do you expect with 80s/90s parents! 😁
You mentioned the female agenda and particularly Star Wars. A subject of some concern for me. The top brass behind SW have actually used the slogan 'The force is female'. Now I love and respect any individual that deserves it regardless of any sh*t category that others put them in. Hell I have a wife and daughter that I respect and love like no other. I want my daughter to believe that she can do what ever she wants in life. But what I cannot stand is anybody pushing and 'forcing' (excuse the pun) their views and opinions on me without allowing or accepting counter argument or reasonable opinion.
That is what Disney/SW are doing and I suspect that is what Marvel are doing but I sincerely hope not.
I hope I haven't ranted too much because I appreciated your movie review. I will keep my eye out for more of them from you.
Cheers, Gaz
Glad to hear your daughter enjoyed it.
I think most people who live Marvel Movies will like it.
Generally, in the hero introduction movies in Marvel Universe, the hero being introduced steals the show.
So, that being said it will definitely come down to the next movie to see if Marvel is going to go down the path of Star Wars. I have my doubts actually. I think she will play a role in the movie, but it's probably going to be a team effort.
I doubt they are going to go out of their way to annoy people like SW. Even if they do, I don't think people will be as angry. You just don't have that 40-year generation gap to destroy.
This is very true. You are right that the gap isn't there with Marvel so the respect for your existing following doesn't apply.
I actually think Marvel are doing it right; compared to DC that just seem to screw everything up, but seeing Captain Marvel as a women gave me a little red flag. I haven't seen the movie and a don't know much about the comics and the history so I will reserve judgement until such time.
I will watch the movie when I can though. Maybe we can pick this back up after I do?
