As we all know, Game of Thrones (GoT) just ended. Its been a long nine years (a year was skipped remember?). Everything finished with Bran on the throne, Dany dead by Jon’s hand, Jon banished to the nights watch and Sansa ruling the North. A lot of people are quite disappointed by the end. I can’t say I’m impressed either. What they did with Jon’s character is plain crazy. I don’t want to mention bad scripting. GoT is currently the most watched series in the world right now so I understand the pressure. Besides, it’s art. We don’t get to choose how it ends.

The only thing I loved about the end is Sansa getting independence for Winterfell. I would have been disappointed if she didn’t push for it, after everything.

Seasons one to seven were beautiful. We witnessed the growth of the Stark siblings especially and how they took different paths but still managed to love each other till the end. Jon’s progress within himself and the people was good too. Deanerys coming of age and winning battles with what she had nothing, before her dragons. We saw blood spill, promises broken, royalties ignored. Hate, love, incest, sex all packed in one.

One of the things I enjoyed most in the series is the conversations between Little Finger and Varys. Tyrion too. Those three were the brains. They don’t fight, but they get most of what they want by thinking and by using the right words. I also love the quotes throughout the season. It’s hard to pick a favourite but I have a few I really love.

People die at their dinner tables, die in their beds. They die squatting over their chamber pots. Everybody dies, sooner or later. Don’t worry about your death. Worry about your life. Take charge of your life, for as long as it lasts.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but they refused. They cling to the realm, or the gods, or love – illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.

Don’t fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle, everywhere, always, in your mind. Everyone is your enemy, everyone is your friend, every series of events is happening all at once. Live that way, and nothing will surprise you.

Did you watch GoT? What did you think of it? Do you have a favourite quote or character? I think my favourite episode is battle of the bastards. Tell me yours.
