Infinity War Of Words: Is Thanos Really A Villain? (Spoiler Alert, Do Not Read If You Haven't Watched Avengers Yet)

Hi There šŸ˜Š

Nothing is just black or just white. Nothing is clear cut good or bad. There will always be degrees leaning on either side. And even then, it is from which angle you are looking from. After watching Avengers Infinity War, we walked out stupendous. Wait?! What??!Ā” Didn't the hero and in this case the heroes always save the day??? Isn't that why we loved them? No matter how bad it gets, they will pull through. Almost a guarantee of sorts to make everything right again before the end of the movie.

I am not the biggest movie buff and so I couldn't remember details of all the previous movies. So as Kiddos and Daddio filled me in, Thanos was mentioned. And without really giving it much thought, I said, you know "Thanos, has some merit in what he was doing? He isn't All Bad!!

Needless to say, we started our own Infinity War of Words. Every one had something to say like I had betrayed the Avengers. But my point is Thanos was not good but neither was he bad. I was just saying, he had an idea on how to save the universe. It may not be popular but it made sense to him. And if you just took the intention it was good. So I refused to paint him a villain.

But he killed people.
Because he thought he was saving the universe.
But it is unfair.
So is just "knowing" you can fix the impending end of the world but not do anything.
He presented the idea and it got shot down.
And his biggest fear came to pass.
He didn't need to mess with other people's worlds.
Because he believed the rest of the world was going to have the same fate.
But he killed some good people along the way.
The idea was not to discriminate and just go at random. Who's to say who's good and who's bad?
But he destroyed so many people along the way.
They were trying to stop him. And some got caught in the crossfire.
But no one believed it was the way to go.
Because it was not popular doesnā€™t make him wrong .

And then suddenly K quips it is how she feels about Light Yagami from Death Note. That his reason was noble, execution was lacking. Similar to Thanos.
He had a clear goal on his new world where only the good would populate. Because of him there was 70% decrease in global crime. True he killed some innocents, but this was to keep his identity safe so he can continue his mission.

Of course K brought this up because when she said the same about Light when we were watching the anime, I disagreed. I had argued with her that he was egoistic and full of himself. He wanted to be God. But Thanos (at least in this movie because I canā€™t really remember the rest) seemed to be very focused on giving the world a fighting chance.

I am yet to be convinced Thanos is a Villain. Maybe there was another way without eliminating half of life. Maybe there was another way to save the world. But this is the solution he knew. I am not saying he is a hero but I Am saying he is NOT a Villain!

So, how do you feel? Do you really believe Thanos is a just evil? I don't, I believe he had an unpopular mission and he was ā€œdeadā€ set on achieving. It didn't fit in other people's idea of how it should be done. He needed to be cold and almost emotionally stunted to see it through. Kiddos wanted to know if I would do it and I don't know... probably not. That does not make me right.

Side Note: Some professions have these kinds of decisions to make like a Doctor or the Captain of a sinking ship...but this really is just a thought that popped up while I was writing this... it wasnā€™t part of my argument with the family.

Did we we finally come to an agreement? Not quite. We agreed to disagree and left it at that. I would love to hear what you think. Am I the only ā€œNon-Condemnerā€ of Thanos?

ā€™Til we meet again over text, pics, videos, maybe even coffee - Steem On!!

You are absolutely right , from certain perspective Thanos is actually a so called "saviour" even though his ways were not acceptable by many. But if you look at it, he didnt kill many people before snapping his fingers ..

Its his generals which decided that it was the only way to fullfill their bosses requirements. Thanos just gets blamed for everything else. LoL.

He kept his cool all through and was very methodical...
You are right, it is the his generals.... but it always is the Kepala's fault haha

If kepala cant guide or some generals are stronger than him and he cant keep them down, susah juga lor. But thats the way it is in normal life as well, Avengers movie reflects what's happening around us too.

By that same token we could say that Hitler and Idi Amin had ā€œunpopularā€ missions too.... just saying using your analogy. Ultimately wrong or right depends on the angle, underlying understanding and inner compass.

I wouldn't liken Thanos to Hitler. He had a different mission and it was one people over another.

The thing that could have made it fair is if Thanos was also on the random list... but I figure, if he did indeed turn into dust, the Avengers would get the stones back and reverse everything and we'd be at square one....
Having said that, we know Captain Marvel will come and she's going to fix things ... haha... it takes a woman šŸ˜Š

Wakanda 4eva!

this picture is misguided .. you see hulk but he never came

jeng jeng jeng! Deleted scenes :P

All I can remember is Bruce kept calling Hulk and Hulk refused to come out... Funny loh...

Hahaha, got meaning one, when u read the comics, hulk and bruce supposed to like merge better ending up hulk can talk and think more like bruce.

I am not really into comic... LOL... malas mau baca...
prefer anime or movie...
coz more exciting... I can see the action...

So my lot also keep telling me I got to read the comics.... haha... I'm with @elizacheng...for now I watch the movie... if not how to say Wakanda 4eva in the right accent šŸ˜‰

Thanos - Evil guy or good guy?
The final scene where he sat there looking at the view... that moment I feel that he is a kind guy... totally different feel presented from the begining of the movie... So I am confused...

And even when he was in that dream state and Gamora asked him what did it cost and his answer was "everything"...yes, so I find it hard to paint him a villain... all bad..

Kinda reminded me of the movie Inferno..kill people to prevent overpopulation killing humanity..

Gandhi said "The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed."
So what's the solution for overpopulation? The white elephant in the room...dhum dhum dhum
