It’s hard to overstate how disappointing the Justice League movie is. With classic, all time favourite characters, this is a franchise that should have set a very high bar for superhero filmmaking, and yet with every subsequent film, the DCU seems more and more tiresome. Even with Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder at the helm, Justice League is a chaotic, overblown, oversaturated, over CGI’d mess,
The film picks up after the events shown in Batman v Superman, where the red caped god (Cavill) has apparently died and Batman (Affleck) realises the threat of a super baddie called Steppenwolf (motion captured by Ciaran Hinds). With no choice, Batfleck relinquishes his ‘I work alone’ coda and is forced to team up with other superheroes like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). It’s not hard to guess how the rest of the plot plays out — and Whedon offers no big surprises or moments that you never see coming.
