A new Pratchett movie

in #movie7 years ago

Well, it's actually quite a few years since I heard about this film some years ago. I can't remember if I contributed to their crowdfunder, but it looks like Snowgum Films have a finished product at last. It's going to be shown around various film festivals, so I don't know when I'll get to see it. I'm happy to pay if they put it online somewhere.

It's based on a short story about ageing adventurer Cohen the Barbarian looking for a last challenge.

I need to check if I have the original story anywhere. I think it was in a collection of short stories. It was fairly early on in the Discworld series and Cohen appeared in some of the other books, including The Last Hero where he was the star.

Cohen

We have quite a collection of Pratchett books. I need to find time to re-read them.

I'm sorry!

Wooho! Cohen is way cool.

I hope it does go up online somewhere so I can see it too. It's unlikely they'll bring it to a film festival way out here.

I have never heard of this before, but it looks pretty cool. It kind of reminds me of some of the other crowdfunded movies I have seen in the past, though those weren't based on books. There is a really good Star Trek one that made it's way to YouTube a while ago. It was mostly interviews, but was still great.

MORT was one of his best, I just love the idea of death turning up one day and you taking over his job. A laugh a minute for sure.

@steddyman is a massive pratchett fan but I have never got around to reading any of his books, he used to rave about him once.. I think its that element of comedy that shy's me away.

I'm a big fantasy fan though, listening to the Mistborn series now, with graphicaudio

I'm less keen on fantasy that takes itself too seriously. I've not read a huge amount beyond Tolkien. I was more in SF.

Looks interesting. Hope you are feeling better.

He's one of my fav's as well.

Cohen the Barbarian :-D

It's fantastic, I really love Pratchett books <3
