"Built to fight, born to love" tagline of the latest animated film production of Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox that aired in December 2017 ago. After the release of the Ice Age Collision Course, this time they brought the classic story of a flower lovers bet named Ferdinand. Ferdinand was adapted from a children's book The Story of Ferdinand written by Munro Leaf and drawn by Robert Lawson. Carlos Saldanha trusted to work on Ferdinand, before the Brazilian director is working on 3 successful animated films Ice Age, Rio and Rio 2.
Ferdinand lives in a bull farm called Casa del Toro, he is quite different from the other bulls. When all his friends are busy pitting horns, he is busy taking care of the flowers and sniffing the fragrance. One day his father was chosen to be the opponent of the matador in the arena and did not return. Ferdinand is sad and disappointed to run away from Casa del Toro and find a flower plantation.
There Ferdinand met Nina, the daughter of a flower farmer who kept her with affection until she became a big bull. Not everyone understands a big bull like Nina, when looking at Ferdinand surely people will be scared and shocked. Ferdinand was arrested and forced into a bull fighting fighter. He returned to Casa del Toro and had to choose between being a bull fighting fighter or being sent to a slaughterhouse. Did Ferdinand meet again with Nina?
The wrestler who turned to actor, John Cena proved successful Ferdinand voice. John succeeded in becoming a bull figure created for fighting but big hearted. The classic story that was displayed was entertaining and gave moral messages not what to be different. The children can also grasp the friendship story of Ferdinand's friends.
One of his friends is Lupe, who is voiced by SNL comedian Kate McKinnon. Kate managed to steal the show through his role as a goat penent and coach Ferdinand. Lupe's character successfully invited the laughter of the audience. Lupe is like Dory in the movie Finding Nemo. In addition there are characters 3 hedgehog Una, Dos, and Quatros are filled by votes by Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, and Gabriel Iglesias. The funny thing is that they do not want to tell where Tres is.
Other bulls are quite unique, such as Angus Scottish bull, Bones a skinny bull, Guapo a bull who likes to grog and nausea when looking at a matador, Valiente a strong bull that hates Ferdinand and the last Maquina a stiff bull like a robot. The antics are growing with the presence of 3 beautifully pretentious horse neighbors. They are Hans (Flula Borg), Klaus (Boris Kodjoe), and Greta (Sally Phillips), they are the Mean Girls of the crazy and cheerful version of the bulls. Action battle dance between horses and bulls not to be missed because it managed to make us laugh out loud.
The view of the flower plantations in this film will spoil the eye, one of which is the tree on the hill where Ferdinand's favorite shade. So far, Ferdinand has become an animated movie that must be watched. Not only flooded with entertaining comedy but taught children to love animals more and stop complaining them.
