C’ete une rendez-vous by Claude Lelouch
The short movie shows a high speed drive in the early hours of the morning in Paris. For years it was unclear who was driving the car over at least twenty red lights with an astoundingly brutal sound? It was rumored that it was the director himself in his brand new Ferrari 275GTB, which he was able to afford after his world famous movie A man and a Woman. Before telling the end of the story, please first experience these 8 minutes of pure racing within a city where even at 5 in the morning it would be now impossible to go that fast any more. Put up the volume!
Years after, the famous director unveiled its secret. It was himself driving the car and it was not the suspected Ferrari but a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9, also owned by him. However, the sound, that makes the viewer believe the car is actually driving faster then it really is, was recorded by the Ferrari and later added to the movie. After showing the movie to the public Lelouch was asked to the Paris police department. There he was welcomed by a police office, who could barely hold back his admiration for the movie. He told Mr. Lelouch that his supervisor requested him to disqualify Mr. Lelouch from driving. After looking at Mr. Lelouch’s driving license he again looked up at him, handed the license offer again and said: “My boss told me to take your license, but he didn’t say for how long. So Mr. Lelouch have a nice day.”
