Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom stomps into theaters this Friday and I am very excited. I love dinosaurs and I've enjoyed all of the Jurassic franchise ( 3 not so much but it isn't nearly as bad as people claim). With this entry shaping up to feature the most dinosaur diversity since The Lost World and with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning alongside Dr. Wu I think it could be my favorite since the original.
Director J.A. Bayona helms this entry in the series with help from Colin Trevorrow the writer/director of Jurassic World. The plot seems to revolve around the volcanic death of Isla Nublar ( the island is stated to be volcanically active in the novel but this was glossed over in the film adaptation) and the efforts of what I'm assuming is INGEN to take as many species as possible to sell and recoup some of what they lost in the collapse of Jurassic World. Dr.Wu seems to need the raptor genome contained in Blue to finish his latest experiment, the Indoraptor. At the end of the day I just want to see dinosaurs tear things up but an interesting plot is nice too.
I've mentioned on several occasions how much I love dinosaurs and that it tends to color my analysis of the Jurassic Park movies but I do try to see the movie in the perspective of someone who doesn't really care about dinosaurs so if it sucks don't worry I'll let you know. JWFK does seem to be going more down the horror route of the original so hopefully it will recapture some of that great tension from the original as the Indoraptor stalks the characters around the Lockwood Estate. I really hope this movie is not a huge disappointment, I try not to get too excited about movies but I have a hard time holding back on a Jurassic movie.
