In a time where it is normal to see remakes, spin-offs and all sorts of things to bring back great movie franchises from the past, Terminator is not the exception, and the new one called "Dark Fate", was just as I was expecting it to be.
I wasn't particularly excited about this new Terminator movie, in just the same way I am not particularly excited about the new Star Wars movie. But this doesn't mean I won't decide to watch it just for the sake of it, and because it will probably be an entertaining action movie. Nevertheless, the entire feeling while watching Terminator Dark Fate can be summarized in this popular internet phrase: "been there, done that".
This new movie is about an alternative future where things are different in name only. There are still horrible things happening in this future and, as always, there is a new kind of Terminator that is sent to the past on a mission to kill a future threat to the machines.
This new Terminator is, I think, the most advanced ever shown in these movies. This robot is better than its opponent from the future and there are some cool fighting scenes. We have Sarah Connor again in her best badass attitude and, of course, the original Terminator is also a key character in this story.
The good budget is noticeable in the fighting scenes, we see several original habilities that make this Terminator the most fierce killing machine and we also learn the origins of its opponent, but I cannot say more about this character without risking spoilers, the only thing I can say is that it is also a cool original character with a cool personal story.
This movie is a good choice if you are just looking for an action movie without caring too much about the previous Terminator movies. It can be entertaining and there are some funny lines with the original Terminator, but that is about it. Nothing really spectacular or mind-blowing.
The best
- We see a new Terminator that is more advanced than anything we have seen before.
- There is a glimpse into an alternative future which is just as scary as the one with Skynet, if not more.
The worst
- Several parts of the plot were easily predictable, such as how the Terminator tracked them and the place they decided to go.
- It can be seen as a kind of generic action movie with just a good budget.

I liked the movie, but it did not explain how Arnold aged. Did he alter his "skin" to assimilate into society? If so it would have been continuous and could have been some cool backstory. 😁🤙
Yes, I noticed that as well but since this is just a regular movie with a big budget meant to be entertaining, I figured the director didn't care about this detail.
