In between two of the musical acts at this year's iHeartHorror event in Sayreville, New Jersey, members of the Friday Nite Specials Cast were in attendance to perform along to "Time Warp," off The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. They were also selling merchandise related to the movie, with an occasional item from "Shock Treatment." I still believe if a group of starving actors were to give "Shock Treatment" the same audience participation treatment as TRHPS received, more people would know this spinoff as well. Instead of "Time Warp," people would be dancing to "Little Black Dress."
Every first, third and fifth Friday of the month. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is shown at Basie Center Cinemas, located at 36 White Street in Red Bank, New Jersey, with members of the Friday Nite Specials performing in front of the screen and in the aisles. If you are a Virgin, meaning you have never attended a showing of the movie in a theater, you will be called on stage and have your cherry popped. Rockyhorrornj.com swears that this isn't painful and only involves a game which is a necessary ritual in attending a movie screening with a live cast. If you attended the Broadway production or seen the movie on tv (dvd or broadcast), this doesn't remove your Virgin status.
The admission is only $10.00 in which tickets can be purchased at the box office or online. Rockyhorrornj.com also explains how to get your online tickets. The evening begins at 10:00pm, unless the movie being shown before the event runs a little late. Besides the Virgin festivities, a dance party also takes place before the actual showing of the film. If you want to do more than just yell out audience lines at the screen, a prop bag will be available for only $3.00. Outside props are prohibited but you can come dressed as your favorite character. While at their table, I purchased some Rocky Horror pins for my better half and a Shock Treatment pin for myself. Hopefully, I will see much Riff Raff on some future Friday nights.
