During the times people in my family went through addiction I went into a mode of finding movies and books dealing with addicts and watching them to understand addiction and what it is like for addicts. Beautiful Boy is an extremely special movie to me given how much it helped me through that time I even sing it to my nephew when has nightmares and can’t sleep (the song Beautiful Boy). It is a special part of my teen years for a lot of reasons that one being the biggest as my dad and uncle and brother were addicts though my brother and uncle aren’t anymore. It was also my first R rated movie in theaters and I read the books that inspired the movie before I went to go see it. It honestly is a big part of my life in a lot of ways. When I watched the Home Again episode of Little House on the Prairie that one part in Part 2 was just so heartbreaking to see it happening to Albert. Just like how heartbreaking it is for people experiencing that in their lives with those you know it’s amazing how they can help people understand addiction when they don’t know what it is like for the person they know in a lot of ways.
