I Origins is truly a special movie, deeply touching on an emotional level. I especially liked how science and spirituality are alterating and competing. If I remember correctly, the laboratory work is also depicted more realisitcally than in other movies. They probably had a proper scientific advisor.

@replichara, yes, the lab work and science are definitely more accurate than your average Hollywood film, although they still had their moments of involuntary humor. Example: when the female doctoral student decides to start sequencing like a dozen animal genomes a week just to see if she can find something – Good luck selling that idea to your boss, ha! They must have unlimited budget and their own sequencing unit working just for them ;-)
Still, I love the beautiful melancholy feeling that lingers after watching the film. A little gem, indeed.
