In the movie Naru just seems like she wants to be a hunter so bad that she got jealous of her brother for saving her life and him being chief.Like shouldn’t she be happy for him?I feel like it would have been better if she truly is a really bad hunter.Someone who just doesn’t have the physical ability to hunt so she uses traps and tools instead of fighting.I did like when she used the rope and axe to make a projectile weapon but i still feel like they didn’t fully utilize that.Like they could start with a scene of her failing to use an axe and finding a way to use it.Anyways,It would also have been better if there was tension between the tribe and the frenchmen and when they encounter the predator, she proposes to team up with them(aka naru gaining the qualities of a good chief).
Another thing that would make it great is that when she finally defeats the predator,a lot of people(both from the frenchmen and comanche) die. This would result in naru seeing the bad side of hunting and being able to accept her weakness(not being able to hunt) and building a new strength(her ability for crafts and strategy). At the end of the movie,She would be more grateful to what she had and is now trying to rebuild the comanche along with her brother. Now this isn’t very specific but it serves as an outline of what i would have done to make a better more relatable character.Because tbh the human characters were not really interesting or relatable at the very least.I cared more about the dog than the main character.Anyways thats my opinion on this movie.Great action scenes and cgi/practical effects. The characters were really boring though.
