Hello, everyone!

Let's dilute the Hollywood cinema with the European TV series. Midnight Sun is a Franco-Swedish detective created by the authors of the first season Broen (Bridge) Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein.

I've known nothing about this TV series before and it got in my face accidentally. Usually, I don't watch European TV series because of a mindset. It's hard for me to perceive their films. But I fell in love at first sight in Midnight Sun. When I heard the opening music and saw the first killing. Wow, guys. It was a sign of fate. I changed my mind a bit towards the end of the series, but more on that later.

PLOT

A brutal murder was committed somewhere in majestic mountains in northern Sweden. The victim is a French citizen, and, in this connection, French investigator Kahina Zadi (Leïla Bekhti) is sent to Kiruna. She conducts an investigation with the Swedish colleague of Saami origin Anders Harnesk (Gustaf Hammarsten). The death of a French citizen is just the first incident from a series of cruel and symbolic murders that push people to hate and insoluble conflicts, where everyone can become a victim or a murderer. In an attempt to find a killer, Anders and Kahina have to confront their roots, which they both deny. And this is exactly what brings them closer to the truth.

The first season consists of 8 episodes. And if I'm not mistaken Americans acquired the rights to produce their Midnight Sun.

REVIEW

In this series, everything that I love is combined: great intrigue, a maniac, bloody murders, folk songs and magnificent nature).
All the actions of Midnight Sun occurring during the Polar Day (midnight sun). Usually, all terrible events occur in the dark and here everything is illuminated by the sun. The gloomy mood of the characters is felt even more because of this effect.
8 episodes will tell us not only about the murders, but about the problems of fathers and children, identifying oneself in society, but most importantly, about tolerance. I learned that in Sweden there is an indigenous population - The Sami people. I really didn't know about them. This is one one of the most mysterious peoples of northern Europe. The age of this ethnic group is at least 5000 years. Scientists are still arguing who are the Sami people and where they came from. These ancient people are famous for its unhurried way of life, contemplation and philosophical attitude to life. Time flows differently for the Sami people, not the way it is in bustling cities.
The Sami live in several countries, including in the territory of Sweden. And I was surprised that the Swedes are oppressing them! In Russia, we think that Europe has gone crazy because of its tolerance, but then I find out that in Sweden and Norway almost destroy the indigenous people and there is even the segregation. What?? Swedes throw them in the face abusive words with ethnic coloring, it's difficult for the Sami to find work. Their houses are set on fire, traffic signs with the names of the Sami settlements are sealed with scotch tape. It's 2017, ladies and gentlemen. What a surprise!
All this hatred is shown in Midnight Sun. The colossal depth of hatred and conflict - this is what happens in Kiruna and provokes murders. This is a great TV series, from which you will learn a lot. How I did it.

And a fly in the ointment. I was dissatisfied with the finale. I wanted to have a couple more episodes to understand the maniac. But I highly recommend watching this series.

Do I as a person living in the southernmost of Sweden (Scania), whose ancestors have been living here since the Neolithic age for at least 11000 years, also count as indigenous?
