Here's a couple photos from my most recent Muay Thai fight.

Was really cool to come back to Ottawa and fight, where it all started for me some years ago.

Abbreviated origin story: Back track to mid 2000's I was playing on an indoor soccer team with one of my roommates and good friends. We had a chippy game that ended in a bench clearing brawl, everyone was dropping bombs on everyone.

Later that evening my buddy and I were reflecting on what had happened and came to the conclusion that we should probably learn how to fight. Later that week we walked a few blocks from our house in centretown and "stumbled" into of Ottawa's finest Muay Thai academies. We totally by chance and out of laziness has walked into a legit academy with one of the countries most respected trainers. And I say stumbled because were so fucking stoned that we were almost immediately turned back by the head Kru. Thankfully, we promised not to show up baked out of our trees and returned and trained a few times a week, ever week for the next few years.

I know live a few hundred kilometers away but a few weeks ago I returned to Canada capital city for a fight on one of the countries best amateur promotions.

I didn't have the fight that I wanted for reasons I wont get into here but I was able to pull off some 3rd round heroics and bash my way to a split decision win on points.

The first picture was my walk-in, I was probably looking at the ring or the big screen. I walked in first so my opponent want in the ring at this point. My walk in song was "The boys are back" by the Dropkick Murphy's..

Second pic, I'm a clinch fighter, I'll lock you up and grind you down. Here I'm putting my left knee into my opponents side. I used the clinch in the third round to land a couple big right elbows to help secure the round and the win.

Third pic, celebrating the win with coach in the ring. As always thanks to everyone who helped me train for this competition. I've had 6 fights in the past 9 months, been pretty active. Time to put competition aside and focus on other priorities.

Thanks for stopping by

Awesome job on your victory with your elbows. I find that picture of you kneeing your opponent in the clinch to particularly impactful.

I have recently created a Martial Arts community and I would like you to join it to make the place livelier with your insight and your stories and experience as a Thai Boxer. You are cordially invited to join the community and to tell your other martial artist friends about it as well.

These pictures are pretty stunning to look at. The photographer, whoever they were, did a pretty good job.

cheers, and sweet I'll check out the community! Yeah the photographer at the event did an awesome job. Have been lucky the past few events to have some great photographers there to capture the moments..

Thank you! I'll be adding more posts there as I keep getting the time.
